I don't know if it's just me, but using guitars to play 'dubstep' seems like a step backwards, if anything. The whole attraction of electronic music (at least, to me) is that you're presented with the ability to do things with sound that just isn't possible through physical instruments, and through progressing with that concept, you can really innovate in music. Of course, that's not true for all electronic artists, but I think it's at its best when it's doing just that. But if you're just trying to copy electronic styles with a guitar, then where's the innovation? You're not really progressing anywhere experimentally, but instead producing a sound that doesn't have the musical diversity of the original. Although, knowing how many of you despise anything that isn't rock/metal, I'm sure a lot of you will disagree.

I personally welcome all experimentation in music. It's through trial and error that any progress is really made; if people didn't risk something new then we'd all still be stuck with the same old thing, which just becomes stale and unexciting. It doesn't matter if the end result of the experimentation sounds like crap, because it is still attempting something new, and eventually, someone will find that right new combination of sounds to make something fresh and exciting.
