As I'm sure you've all assumed since David's departure, myself and the supermod team have been considering candidates for promotion for the forum. A few names have been dropped and there are definitely some lads here with moderating potential. However, we don't want to choose a member of the forum for the sake of getting someone in as soon as possible, and we'd rather have you all show us your potential. Rather than narrowing it down ourselves, seeing how you all participate in the forum while we spectate seems like the most exciting idea for all parties involved. This is an opportunity for you lot as members, and it's also an opportunity to encourage people to post some more, and create more activity.
We're not asking for anyone to do anything extraordinary (I don't mind taking some bribes though!); all we want is for you:
- To participate in the forum on a regular and consistent basis and encourage others to post and visit this place some more.
- To have broad knowledge with a lot of music. Obviously since this is the music forum, we expect you to have quite a decent level of musical intellect, whether from older generations or the 21st century. Being 'musically-in-the-know' can only help you when participating here.
- To follow album releases, tours as well as announcements so that you can contribute and let others know about the freshest and most exciting news.
- To have a good grasp of the forum, its members and its needs. Of course if you've been around for quite a while, it'll help you as you know the attitudes and attributes of other members, trending bands/artists and popular discussion. However, if you haven't been around too long, don't let this discourage you from applying for the job; we'll happily accept all applications and give each consistent thought.
- To have enough time during each week to dedicate to the forum. Of course, this much should be obvious, but we don't encourage lounge moderators to spectate, come in and close a thread or two from time to time - it's important to continue what promoted you in the first place and having a consistent level of participation is ideal.
- To be helpful when others need help and advice. If new members pop in and post a topic already posted elsewhere, just closing the thread isn't recommended. If you take a moment to welcome the new member, and point him/her in a few of the right directions - forum rules, relevant original thread, lounge etc. - then that would be perfect.
Let's get this forum back on its feet, and try and bring it back to the glory days. If you feel you're up for the job, please let it be known. The most appropriate advice for doing so would be to apply through the re-introduced
moderator application process. That way, you can be on our radar and we'll keep a close eye on your activity and forum ethic. When applying, give a brief description of why you feel you are the appropriate appointment to make for the forum. Adding your intitiative and telling us your take on how you wish to improve the direction of the forum is something that we look for too, as it reinforces why you'd be the right man/woman for the job. I'll keep this open in case there are any questions/member recommendations.
Good luck to all and I look forward to co-moderating with one of you in the near future!

Regards,
Eric
