This artist has more of an industrial feel to his music than most others which I like. Fram reminds me a lot of Aphex Twin, and I love the contrast between the simple set-ups to some tracks and then diving into the intricate levels all at once. The constant change-ups ensure that you don't just feel like you're listening to the same things over and over again, which is the case I get with these genres occasionally.
I only go for stuff like this when it really is a stand-out artist like Aphex Twin or Múm, but I can still see this joining that list of artists I go for. Sounds like awesome study music.

Came back for another spin of the posted tracks. They're soothing to me. They're the kind of thing that I would leave to hear in a cool bar where I'm sat chilling, rather than at a club. But I feel like that's just an older tired man in me speaking
I like this band a lot for a good few reasons. They're extremely tight as a band. There's a huge interplay between different guitars and bass in the band, a to and fro between the members of the band.
It combines math rock with hardcore but still including notable lyrics, from a multi-styled singer. Most of all, they're a bit of craic to listen to and bop your head to. I'm not going to sit here and say they're my favourite band or that that everyone should love them and buy their shit. But it's some fun music to kick back and rock to!
You can listen to the majority of their album on last.fm with the Google chrome app thingy.

I appreciate its a kind of middle of the road between rock and hardcore, particularly in terms of the vocals but at the time the album came out (Red In Tooth And Claw), it just blew me away compared to a lot of dross that I'd been listening to.
BATS Spelled... is probably my favourite song by them.
Considering his recent thread about Tubelord, Lazzara might like these too.

Jaysus, i didn't think anyone would have heard of Shank outside of Ireland. They're awesome though, fair play Lazz. I would have made them my recommended artist, but I distinctly remember trying to recommend them here before, and them not going down. But they're all Richter Collective, really shows a lot of strength in the label, to reiterate.

I'll be honest, this hasn't grabbed my attention. It's definitely new and interesting, something I haven't listened to before particularly. But I've been finding it a bit mish mash of different styles crashing together. I think it could just be the wrong time for Chelsea Wolfe for me. I go through pretty exact but wide ranging phases in what I want to listen to, and this isn't really what I'm on at the moment.
Having said that though, all the songs are amazingly crafted, and definitely build an atmosphere. I've mentally gone away with Wolfe and myself while listening to the suggested tracks, at times suddenly snapping out to realize someone's been calling me for ages, or the phone's ringing or something. It's definitely music you can get lost in.
And jesus, since when has your sig blinked Icedevil? scared the shit out of me...

I would have assumed she'd still stand as a recommendation, even though theres a thread? Or have I missed something?
The second video ain't working for me for whatever reason. Neither track is really grabbing me at the moment. I can see it as decent chilled out dance music, but it's not really interesting enough to keep me compelled, or cerebral enough to melt away into my brain... I'll give proper listens tomorrow!
I couldn't see myself listening to Douche again really. I found that slightly grating...

I'll be honest, all I've gotten out of this week's recommended artist is going and listening to Boards of Canada. Which I'm pretty pleased with by the way, so thanks for that!

I struggled to get into Past Lives. I tried listening to a few songs, but I couldn't really put any thoughts together on the songs I was listening to. A lot of stuff I heard seemed a bit kinda haphazard. not really crisp or clear what was going on. Brass elements seemed lazy and immaterial. Vocals unspectacular. I wasn't really getting anything that drew me in, and made me want to go on. But that could just be me, I didn't really give them a huge chance. Sorry for lateness! I'm going 90 at the moment...
Going to give Crustation a go now...

Crustation is really nice. I really like the contrast between some of the sung songs and then the spoken word songs, and then the no vocal songs. It breaks it up a bit, and lets you focus on different aspects of the band.
I thought I would like them, being a fan of trip-hop, particularly Portishead, but I'm pleasantly surprised in the depth of this music. I almost like the 1 album nature of them too. So many times, i get discouraged by a new recommended artist just by the sheer amount of music to go and listen to to get a feel for them. But Bloom can definitely go down as a new album to my top list. A short concentrated piece of brilliance.

Dillon Francis is definitely on the very good end of the electro house scale, and if this is what 'moombahton' is (swear this genre is just a made up term to catch out casuals like me ), count me in for more of it. It does make you wanna dance anyway! I'm not exactly familiar with the originals songs to the remixes, so I can't tell how much is Francis, but it's very enjoyable.
I'd like to extend thanks and praise to judaspriest again too, for a killer recommendation in Crustation. Can't get enough of Bloom.

I knew there was a 2011 album I had missed out on! I'd never seen such a quietly released album get such wide ranging acclaim as Diamond Mine did, but I always forgot to have a listen, partly because of the difficult to remember/spell artist name
The whole album is definitely a must for anyone looking at this artist. It all fits together so perfectly, listening in fits and starts loses some of the magic.
And it is magic. This album was set with the unenviable task of keeping me calm as I worked on my thesis and performed admirably. Very soothing and tranquil. My only call-it-a-gripe-if-you-like was that it did zip along, and was over before I even noticed. I was interested and actively taking it in for the first 10 minutes, but then melted away for the next 20, without any time to kinda reel myself back in. But that sets me up for being able to come back and find new nuances at later listens. Great shout EricF!
People looking for comparisons, it reminded me of times of Villagers and of Mountain Goats in terms of style and emotion, as well as Danielle Luppi and Danger Mouse's Rome, in the whole kinda setup and approach.

M4 was definitely the best song out of that post. I can totally picture it as a kind of a credits song. You rarely get as much picking as that in post rock, so that was kinda cool. The song set-up was nice, didn't drag, kept me interested. The other two songs I wasn't too pushed about. And I don't really hear the shoegaze elements? They're good, not great though.
I'll listen to M4 again. Is the rest of that EP/LP in a similar vein? EvilTediz597

I currently am giving them another spin. Listening to Feel.Love.Thinking.Of at the moment, I haven't had much time to listen recently!
Title track is good although ends very abruptly, Das Malefitz is another song that's been used on the Mass Effect soundtrack, I'm led to believe. it sounds quite similar to M4, although a bit less interesting. Not too impressed so far. M4 seems to me like a lot more of a effective and enjoyable release.

Was interested in listening to these since one of my favourite math bands, This Town Needs Guns, released an absolute garbage album just there... Very good so far!
When The Catholic Girls Go Camping, the Nicotine Vampires Rule Supreme is insane...!

Haven't listened to this crowd in a while but More Skin With Milk Mouth is really good. Much better than anything I've heard from This Town Needs Guns as well, while we're on the topic.
Ha, agreed tbh! Solid addition to my musics anyway, glad I came here to have a listen, although originally it was only because of the name... Which I love!!
I'm still on More Skin With Milk Mouth, but I'm digging it a lot so far. Can't get over the progressions on Catholic Girls! (<- Sentence probably never uttered in history before this)
