Danny!, also known as D. Swain (born August 18, 1983 in Killeen, Texas), is an American rap performer and record producer from Columbia, South Carolina, a former student of the Savannah College of Art & Design and, previously, a recording artist for Definitive Jux Records. L.A. Weekly has called Danny! "the best new artist that Def Jux has signed". Garnering praise—and fielding minor criticism—for being an atypical rapper relying on sampled tracks, Danny! released five self-produced studio albums, three instrumental albums and even a greatest hits compilation prior to his affiliation with Def Jux. He is often seen wearing his trademark oxford shirt and pinstriped necktie, a fashion style he adopted during high school.

Danny! is most notable for his critically acclaimed self-released albums Charm and And I Love H.E.R., the latter named by ABC News as one of the best 50 albums of 2008. 2010's Where Is Danny?, despite internet leakage that hindered sales, has received universal acclaim for its cartoonish lyrical content and "lo-fi" production; in press coverage prior to its release Spin revealed that the record would be less of a departure from Danny!'s musical direction but more of a return to original form, sounding "as over-the-top as The Slim Shady LP a decade ago". More recently, following co-signs from Jay-Z and ?uestlove, Danny! signed for a revived Okayplayer Records.

Oh *bleep*, didn't realise the reworked Where is Danny was so close.

I Used To Love H.E.R is my favourite but Charm, Danny is Dead, Where is Danny etc are all works of magic also.

Every track is indeed a banger on 'Danny is Dead'. Possibly my favourite release of his though I can't really choose. Anyways, for those who are interested, forgot to mention he has production credits on a number of tracks from Danny Brown's 'The Hybrid' (which I am yet to listen to in full ). He's also currently working on a collaborative album with Von Pea of Tanya Morgan, as well as a project with an unnamed swedish indie pop/electronic group.

As a side note, album is out today. I'm yet to confirm whether rumours of a Drake guest appearance were unfounded. Don't really care either way.

I liked the original version of 'Where is Danny?' but production wise 2.0 is definitely a step up. Fart noises on 'Lost One' had me in stitches. Definitely some venting going on.

Anyways, I'd highly recommend downloading this, like right now. As in this very instant. It's given me about 10 artists I'd never heard of to seriously look into over the summer.

Next month alledgedly, oh god.

As great as Where is 2011 is I already know all the words (sans the dope Donwill track) so it's more of a remix album with better beats, so a FRESH new album is super exciting to me.

Danny really should get folded into Tanya Morgan permenantly now Illyas has gone, instant supergroup.

On a self involved sidenote, mr swain sure likes to sample music from the Lupin the Third cartoons, I keep recognising tunes left and right.
