Was reading a random blog some months back and found out Donald Glover was also a rapper. I was apprehensive, but one breeze though CULDESAC and subsequently his mix tapes have made me a huge huge fan.

I think part of the appeal his whole rapping ordeal is such a curveball. There's no way I could guessed while watching the Derrick Comedy videos all those years back that that guy could write such sick rhymes.

Also he wrote for 30 Rock (a point he never seems to stop pushing), so instant cool points there.

Agreed, but I think there's a very fine line between being mad (which is often badass) and being downright whiny. He crosses that line a few times on CULDESAC; nothing too major, just a little irksome.
