I'm thinking that if The Clash couldn't do it on Sandinista!, then I doubt bloody Green Day has much of a chance of creating three solid records. Not that Sandinista! is a bad album (a good two thirds of it is quite fantastic), but once it gets to the backwards and dub version filler, it's a real slog.

Oh, I didn't say anything against Green Day. They're not a bad band, just that they're nowhere near as good as The Clash. Therefore, if The Clash couldn't do it, I don't see Green Day doing it either.

Studio version of "Oh Love," is up. I can't put a finger on it. The sound of it almost sounds like a mix between what was on American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown; drums, of course, are awesome, as is that guitar riff. Nice little solo too. I wouldn't say it's anything like Dookie, Insomniac, or Nimrod, but it's still really good, I think.

I feel indifferent about the new single. I liked their older work more, but I can't understand why everyone hates American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown so much. I mean, I don't love them, but I don't hate them. I feel the same way about "Oh Love."

Ha! I didn't mean to do it, but I posted the videos in order from worst to best (in my opinion at least). "Kill The DJ" is horrible, the music gets repetitive fast, and the lyrics stop being cool after the first minute. I grew bored halfway in. Horrible song. Sounds too pop-ish.

"Nuclear Family" is good. Sounds like it could have been right off of American Idiot, to be honest.

"Let Yourself Go" is *bleep*ing amazing, now this I really like. Reminisce of classic Green Day, right there. At least I think. Nice little solo in there too. By far my favorite song off the album so far.

The album comes out next week. I'm looking forward to it for the most part, although I already have mixed reactions on it. I think Green Day needs to stop trying to be who they were, and stop trying to re-create the Kerplunk-Nimrod 90's era. They've aged. I've always come to respect bands who are always trying to move forward with their sound, as opposite to releasing a hit and staying with the same thing forever.

I'm gonna compare 'em to Pearl Jam for a moment. Two opposites, but still. Pearl Jam came out hard, and "Ten"/"Vs" were by far their most popular albums. However, the band aged. They matured, and their music definitely tells that story. Pearl Jam knew "Ten" was popular, and they stuck with it for a few years. Eventually, the music changed, they "found themselves" and they started to release, what I think, is their better music.

Green Day should follow suit. I love Kerplunk, Nimrod, Insomniac, etc. just as much as anyone, but they're not who they used to be. They need to move on, and keep trying to forward and improve their music, instead of trying to re-create the classics.

Don't you get it? He's been around since 1988, he obviously deserved more time.
