Bear in Heaven

quote About Bear in Heaven
Bear in Heaven is a Brooklyn-based rock band formed by Jon Philpot. The sound of the band incorporates influences from psychedelic music, electronic music, krautrock. The first Bear in Heaven release (Tunes Nextdoor to Songs, Eastern Developments 2003) was an EP of solo recordings by Philpot, recorded in Atlanta, Georgia, with guest musicians performing on various instruments. Shortly after the release of Tunes Nextdoor to Songs, Philpot moved to Brooklyn, New York and joined with guitarist Adam Wills, keyboardist/guitarist Sadek Bazarra (a graphic designer with Brooklyn design collective GH avisualagency), guitarist David Daniell (of San Agustin), and bassist James Elliott (Ateleia, School of Seven Bells). Eventually drummer Joe Stickney (drummer with Paul Duncan, Rhys Chatham’s Essentialist project, and current touring drummer with Panthers) was added to the lineup. Daniell left Bear in Heaven in 2005 to focus on his solo project.

These guys are huge and by huge I mean this shit just fills the room I'm still trying to wrap my head around Beast Rest Forth Mouth their newest release and *bleep* I've been listening to this album everywhere my iPod is just going like "please stop". This shit is hard to pin down to a certain genre so good luck to Dave and/or Phil with putting up the genre in the thread subtitle. Unfortunately YouTube doesn't have an abundance of Bear in Heaven tracks, in fact these two were pretty much the only ones I could find off the new album, shame you won't be able to listen to the *bleep*ing amazing opening track Beast in Piece that is unless you pirate the album which you all should be doing right now.

ALSO YES PITCHFORK BESTOWED UPON THIS ALBUM "BEST NEW MUSIC" SO YOU KNOW IT'S GOOD

Sweeeeeeeeet.

This band is pretty awesome. The eclectic electronic instrumentation with the sparse drumming and the chilled vocals just go so well together.

Listening to Beast Rest Forth Mouth now and loving every second of it.

Thanks for the thread wobbs.

That's what last.fm is for.

First thing that popped into my head is how similar this guy's vocals sound to Alexis Taylor's (in "Wholehearted Mess", anyway). Definitely a good thing. They actually seem to have a pretty similar sound overall to Hot Chip, just with a little less pop. Good stuff bro. I bet you saw my DP of me with the lead singer, which lead Andrei to spin their new album, and you to create this thread.
