Dude I totally agree about nu-metal. That genre is dead and has been for a long time, and was never particularly good in the first place once you went past the age of 14.

But look at another nu-metal band - Slipknot. Now, I am far from their biggest fan, but I have to applaud them for actually evolving their style. It still sounds like Slipknot, but it's more melodic and technical, as opposed to the "RAWR RARH RAHWE!" of their early albums. They're still selling very well with a huge fanbase.

Nobody wants to hear another nu-metal album from Linkin Park. They just want to hear something that has some substance to it, some gravitas. The stuff they're coming out with at the moment is very, very weak. It has none of that raw attitude that won them so many fans in the first place.

For the record, I have heard Reanimation, but you can hardly call that a major studio release. It's just an album with their previous hits remixed, not an album of entirely new tunes. The electronica influences work very well there as a backing - they don't on this new work as the main meat in the sandwich, so to speak.

Like I've said before, I'm far from a LP hater. They hold some really fond memories for me, and I enjoy elements of their work all across the spectrum, even if a lot of that enjoyment is nostalgia. Unlike a lot of fans I really enjoyed New Divide though, sounded to me like the perfect combo of old and new styles. I would have loved the new album to have that style...

Slipknot on the Self-Titled album and IOWA were Nu-Metal.. They had all the traits of Nu-Metal, screamed vocals, rapping, a DJ and guitars tuned lower than standard... Slipknot were about as Nu-Metal as Nu-Metal got in the beginning.

Look folks, it's nothing to do with being a "hater". These guys soundtracked my adolescence, they were the band that got me into rock and metal music when I was younger. It is NOT easy to start hating on a band that holds such fond memories. I would love Linkin Park to release a slobberknocker of an album that knocked everyone for six, but from what I've heard of A Thousand Suns so far, it isn't going to be that record.

When you completely ignore your former fanbase, and change your musical style to such an extent that you don't even sound like Linkin Park anymore, I'm afraid there's simply no way I can like this new material. For what it's worth, I'm not even a major M2M hater - I thought that it was average at best, but still think it sounded like Linkin Park and some people slated it to an unfair degree. This new shit though? Come on guys, take off the tinted spectacles - that doesn't sound like Linkin Park. All that electronica and synth, virtually no guitars, it's like a hipster's dream. All they are doing is pandering to the most popular style of music at the moment in a desperate attempt to stay relevant.

Even Metallica, to a certain extent, still sounded like Metallica on the Load/Reload and St. Anger albums. This just doesn't sound like Linkin Park at all.

You honestly said everything that i was gonna say...Especially the adolescence part, I understand when a band changes there style
but What LP did..They might as well just create a new name.

That legitimately sounds promising.

"Waiting for the End"

This song sounds way different from their old songs that were on Hybrid Theory and Meteora but it does sound like it will be a great song coming from Linkin Park, which I can't wait for the new album "A Thousand Suns".

It should be released very soon according to Itunes.
