Haterz gonna hate...

Never said I liked it, did I? Fact is, no matter what this band does, there will always be haters.

Hey I dont take that review too seriously... I felt wretches and kings (while overall a similar style) was nothing like the first too albums and would have felt out of place on them. I kinda like the song too and as far as the Catalyst goes... Im still meh on it. Not the best but what are you going to do? It sounded better than most of M2M. And Guess what I like some of M2M (Not the biggies like Given up or Bleed it Out either thou I do like them too) I dont think M2M was a stupendous album but some of the hate is rather unjustified and more so because we didnt get what we want.

Anyway from the two songs we do have I think this album will end up better than M2M but I doubt it will be that great as a whole.

Exactly I am not after a band sounding the same album after album I actually enjoy when bands experiment and alter. Hell I am an absolute die hard Dir En Grey fan and to be honest no band has experimented and changed as much as they have, but they have always kept that signature sound only they can produce. I mean they started as nothing more than a pop rock band and are now bordering on metalcore/death metal. I mean with such drastic changes over the course of 7 albums and a remix album they still sound like the same band. In Linkin Parks case they don't sound like the same band there is nothing, not a single thing from their past in their new sound absolutely nothing.

I found with Minutes to Midnight it took some repeated listening* before I got into (some) of the tracks, and from what I've heard from this new one, so far it's been the same kind of deal. Much like a lot of people here I was underawed by The Catalyst at first, but after having listened to it a few more times I like it a lot more than initially. Having listened to Wretches and Kings a few times I've come to a similar conclusion. I'm cautiously optimistic for ATS.

*except for Shadow of the Day, quite possibly one of the worst songs I've ever heard, period.

I guess you've never listened to Reanimation. If you have, then you're just another fan that wants a Hybrid Theory/Meteora, and that's sad for anyone to want that. That sound is 10 years old, and every other band that tried to keep that sound failed miserably and are now no longer together, or no one gives a shit about them.

All the electronica sounds have always been there, except for Minutes to Midnight, except this time their just more prominent. I really don't see why people are complaining, if you listen closely to these two songs, you can hear elements from all of their releases, from Hybrid Theory EP all the way to Minutes to Midnight.

People complain if a band stays the same and doesn't evolve. If they change, they still complain. There's fan boys who will like it no matter what, there's haters who will hate just to hate, but then there's honest people on both sides, and that's fine. But if you've only listened to it once or twice, of course you're not going to like it or appreciate it. In my opinion, especially when it comes to Linkin Park, to fully appreciate and experience their music, you need to listen to their songs in every which way possible. On the computer, headphones, in the car, because until your ears capture all the layers of sounds that are built into their songs, then no one would appreciate it.

...or, people could learn to open themselves to new types of music instead of just sticking to the same old game.
