Not a very good remix tbh. The bassline is really poorly done. Wrong pitch and not very well integrated with the percussion. Kind of ruins the whole track. The song is very minimal too, there's hardly any instruments. Sounds like a 10 minute job.
Might as well post my latest track here for those interested. =P
I'm liking your track a lot, Enigma, I think there are a lot of interesting elements that you introduce throughout the composition that keep it from being repetitive, be it subtle effects or variations of the main hook. It sounds like a very thoughtful and mature production, though I'm no trance expert (Nightmusic and Anjunabeats tend to be my only forays into the genre at the moment). What kind of feedback have you been getting from trance-dedicated websites, like trance.nu or trance addict? My only reservation (and it's more of a personal preference) is that I've never been keen on tracks that immediately start with a thumping bass drum, instead preferring a more gradual build up.
I love tracks that start with a thumping bass. My biggest influences are Airbase and Vincent de Moor, you'll probably hear some similarities between my music and those artists if you ever listen to them.
Thanks for the feedback though. I haven't posted my track at any trance websites yet, I might just do that. Could be helpful for improvements in the future. I'll start with a more gradual build up on my next track. ;)
Not a fan of vocals in trance, really. In my opinion, it distracts too much from the melody, or it's used to carry the track because there isn't really a melody. If there's vocals, it has to be a girl definitely. Justine Suissa is an example of a perfect trance voice. Clear Blue Water features her vocals and is one the few songs where I think it really gives the song something extra. Such Is Life is another good example. The track you posted is alright, Deadcell. A bit slow, but I really like the strings. Her voice sounds a bit like Floria Ambra.
Btw, I'm about to finish a new track of mine, should be able to upload in a few days.
Oh, come to think of it, there actually is a track with male vocals that I love. Armin van Buuren ft. Ray Wilson - Yet Another Day. Beautiful piece of work and the vocals fit perfectly.
He used to be good, mainly when he started. Some good releases in his uplifting period (Yet Another Day, Communication, Blue Fear). His recent tracks are pure crap, to put it bluntly. Usually extremely boring and minimal and not appealing in the slightest. He totally went the wrong direction with his style, a shame.
I wouldn't place it in the Trance category, Vanted. More like dance/eurodance with a trancy edge. The way the song is built up isn't a typical trance one. The melodies introduced at 0:54 and 1:46 never reach a climax and that's kind of one of the basic elements of a trance track. I'm also not too fond of the kick variations in the beginning, they're kind of distracting. Still though, the sound is pretty good, it's just a bit poorly built. What software do they use?
Hmm, not much of interest there. It's all way too minimal for me. Armin van Buuren used to make great music years ago, but his stuff is poor at best these days. His newest track, Full Focus, is just plain terrible. The only good thing in Tuvan is the woman's voice sample, which is brilliant, but he could have made a much better and more powerful track around it.
The mashup is interesting, but In And Out Of Love is a really bad song, so it kind of ruins Jochem Miller's Lost Connection, which is quite a decent track in the original mix. The third video is a lame and cheesy commercial track imo, fun once maybe but annoying after that. The last one is just really really bad music.
Sorry to disappoint you Kafani, I just can't appreciate boring songs like that. Same with your vids Bubbster, the minimalistic stuff is just not my thing. I need energy and euphory in my music.
Lmao, I can totally see where you're coming from man. I'd agree with you that this style is on the edge of being too much, but if you ask me it's exactly right. And you're right actually, it does sound like there's two songs playing in the background, but all those melodies playing together in harmony is what makes it beautiful imo. The more the better. And yeah, it does sound much better in a huge hall with thousands of people but I still love listening to it at home. Ah well, I guess it's just a matter of taste.
That was actually not bad at all. The vocals were pretty good indeed. It's too bad that it still has those extremely tiring anticlimaxes at 1:30 and 4:58 that make me hate Sander van Doorn and this kind of music in general.
