Versailles is a Japanese Visual Kei/Gothic rock band formed in March 2007. Prior to the release of their first album in Japan, the band were already hugely popular due to the fact the line up comprised of already notable figures from the visual Kei scene.

Guitar- Teru (Ex Aikaryu)
Bass- Jasmine You (Ex JyaKura)
Drums- Yuki (Ex Sugar Trip)

Their first album Lryical Sympathy was released world wide on October 31st 2007.
Their style is said to include Classical, Neo-classical metal, symphonic rock and is often sited as similar to the style of Malice Mizer but with a heavier component.

This band is pretty good, even though at the moment their stuff is pretty hard to get hold of. I like their style, its a lot more classic Visual kei than some other bands, and they pull it off pretty well. There look matches their music and Kamijos vocals are strong, so all in all they've got a lot of potential.

haha true, Lareine will probabaly start back up again even if Kamijo is in this band XD No doubt this was one of the reasons for Lareines split, given how close together the split and the fomation of versailles occured. I just hope they don't adopt the attitude after a few singles of 'We were all in sucsessful bands, we have a fanbase, we can stop trying now'. Thats said, their music so far has been great.

I agree about the video, everything about them is very over styled and over produced, reminds me very much of something Mana would do, but still they pull it off. I just ordered their album so hopefully i'll be hearing more soon.

I have heard of the bands they were all in, but none of them were great. Sulfuric Acid never appealed to me atall either. Sugar trip and Aikaryu werent bad, but they werent exactly doing anything unique. it seems that them all coming together has made something a bit more unique. syill though i can see why people think they are a bit like Malice Mizer.

kamijo sounds different on this for some reason. im listening to the album right now.. the production is badass as always.

Yeah, Kamijo does sound different to previously, maybe to establish the band in a different style.

And I see what you meen MOG about gackt era, its that classic french theatricaly romantic type look MM did. Especially the Merivilles videos.

I like it too. I think its one of the only cases were i've liked a band after hearing just one song, so thats says something about how its quite original. Cant wait to here the rest of their stuff, hopefully its as good. Like the intro to this one particularly.

Even though I'm not particularly a fan of their kind of music, I was listening to Revenant Choir earlier today and I was impressed admittedly.

Liking how they combine power with melody, always a good trait for a song. Very smart usage of the drums too.

Listened to Revenant Choir today, amazing song. Though it is hard to tell what he's singing in english. Way to overproduced!
