I've played the new PES's (5 and 6), but I just don't like the gameplay nearly as much. There are some aspects that 5 and 6 do better:
-Long distance shooting is easier, whereas in PES4 it is extremely rare to get a long range goal, as most players' shots tend to be quite weak, even if the shot power is high.
-Another good thing is that the top speed and jump stats increase in ML development. Unnfortunately the other stats increase at a snail's pace.
-The layout is much nicer. Obviously updated transfers, new Konami Secret players, etc.

The drawbacks of the new PES's are quite serious, though:
-Dribbling is devoid of any feel, seems too automated, lack of control.
-Players on your team will not run into open space to recieve passes, no matter how open or promising a goal opportunity.
-Through passes are garbage.
-Crossing and heading s feel like a *bleep*ed robot is controlling the players movements.
-The whole game play is not fluid.

So, in conclusion, I am still playing PES4 because its gameplay is just too seet for me to change over to PES6.

i still have this game (loved it).never played pes5. i think this is the best out of the pes's i've played. but i don't see any point in playing it anymore apart for good trip down memory lane.

however you do make some good points. the dribbling in pes4 did seem like you were more in control of the player than in pes6. and i'll have to agree that the passing mechanism is horrible in pes6 comapared to pes4.

guess we'll have to see real improvement come pes7.

all right, yes, games are meant to be played for fun, but the pes series has moved on from pes4 now. i just play to remember what fun it was, to do master league, probably not.

I still own PES4, but i havnt played it in a very long time. I loved the game though, and i loved this forum, ahh the good old days

I love PES4. I've struggled for a long time to win my first ML title but once I cracked it I never looked back. I've read all the reviews about PES5 and PES6 and I must be honest and say I dont find alot of reason to spend all that money for a minor upgrade.
Its so much fun.I've recently started selling all my older more established players and replaced them with ML youths.Needless to say I'm dominating in all tornaments.
I've especially been trying to score a goal from as far out as possible and last night Podolski smashed one in from the half way line.It went so quickly the camera wasnt quick enough to see it go in!!

I know!I also find it easier to use players with average or below average stats when taking free kicks.The players with better stats tend to smash the ball over but when you use other players their shots dip a bit more coz their shot power aint that high.

Last night i had a 'freak' game. No shot would go in.It was crazy. Have you noticed that when the ball rolls toward the post it takes a mean bend past it.Like a magnet repelling it.I hate it when that happens!

I do though have a problem with this, when I first bought the game I found that it ran quite slow even though I have a high spec pc that should handle this easily. I found a patch (not the Konami) that solved this issue and it then worked perfectly. I now need that same patch again but cant find it anywhere????

I have looked everywhere and treid all of the obvious things but the game still runs slow. Have you guys any idea what this patch might have been or where I can get it?

Nope I play Pro 4 too. I've got Pro 5, but as you've said, the gameplay just isn't as fun. Hell, all I do is play one Master Leauge file as Liverpool on 3 stars, with all the legends, and own; don't even need a challenge cause it's still fun.

I tried 5 got fed up with all the stop/start and I play at 3star and find it hard to score....or concede so games end 0-0, 0-1 etc This seems to only happen if you play with teams other than top4. Tried 6 on 360 - very slow on line, on PS2 much better and more fun than 5 but still had very low scoring games........Back playing 4 on PS3 now and as others have said it's the best FUN! Even managed to win the League at 3stars with Spurs (good for me). Just started a new ML with created club....topping div 1 mid season.
