The war is on.

I wonder if the southerners cared less when a big change was going to be made regarding Abraham Lincoln becoming president. I love when people take an easy going approach to politics.

This is the future of our country we are talking about, not some tv show. We need to fix spending, the economy, immigration, the war on terror, and many other issues, and take some initiative while doing so.

Apathy doesn't get anyone anywhere, except in a deeper hole - which leads to a violent struggle to dig ourselves out of later. Hopefully then the country will care for 'change' but in a right way.

Well Hillary won New York, California... She's well on her way.

Meh. I knew she would get more Delegates. But I was pleasantly surprised that Obama got more states. Momentum is key also.

So, if this is a political debate Thread... DA and I can go at it over Obama, eh?

Delegates are party members that attend the political conventions in the summer. When you vote in a primary, you vote for who your delegate will vote for. Delegates are selected either by local elections or by the parties themselves. These days, in order for a candidate to secure the nomination they need to have a certain number of delegates for the party to nominate them, because it represents electability in the general election. In the old days, the candidate was selected behind close doors by party elites, but that kind of flew out the window with the whole "giving the voter more power" movement in the early 20th Century.

I expected Clinton to win more states yesterday, actually. She did win the big states, but Obama won more geographically diverse locations, proving he has some clout with voters throughout the country. I expect he'll do well next week but after that I think Clinton's going to slide to the nomination, because she'll probably clean up in Pennsylvania and Ohio.

Stem Cell, I appreciate your spirit but you do realize how little your vote actually counts, right? The only reason people vote nowadays is because they either feel some sort of duty to do so (which I find semi-ridiculous, if neither candidate represents your views it makes little to no sense to vote for either of them) or because they belong to a special-interest organization that depends on their vote so that they can continue to coax bureaucrats and legislators to grease the wheels for them. I like Obama, and I'll probably vote for him if he ends up as the Democratic candidate, but if it's going to be Clinton v. McCain I'm just going to stay home and watch Home Improvement reruns, because that would honestly be a better way to spend my time.

I figured Obama would win more delegates considering his popularity, the way I'm seeing him right now is that he might be more 'national' than some of the others. The states he heavily relied on didn't actually give him more of a leading advantage. Oh well, it's not over until the fat lady sings.

Well, he's winning with the black vote all over America. And he's improving in the women's vote and the Hispanic vote. So, it's certainly not over yet.

Am I the only one who is sick and tired of hearing these political analyzist talking about how "he's trying to get the black vote." or "he's tring to get the female vote" and blah blah blah. They're making people seem like mindless drones that vote with out a purpose.

Well, i'm just one person, your right. My vote as a whole does not matter much. But let's say.. a million people listen to your logic and don't vote, well, on a micro sociological scale, yes, my vote doesn't count, but put 1 million Stem Cells together, and you have quite a tide turner. I like to think my vote counts. And hopefully everyone else thinks so too.

Think on a bigger scale people. I'm not one person, i'm part of a group.

And as for feeling like ones needs to vote, well, one does not have to vote as my mom feels she doesn't want McCain or Hillary in office. Romney is falling behind so she's not doing her duty, which really is fine. She knows the facts, she doesn't like either of them, and she's not voting. The whole 'letting your country down' thing is mostly media oriented. If someone doesn't vote, theres probably a reason behind it. Lack of interest. Don't know politics, or don't like the candidates. It's probably a good thing they don't vote.

This complaining is not directed towards you Trendyskaman. I hear this from a lot of people, i'm just stressing my opinion about the subject. Your right, i'm wrong, i'm right, your wrong. We all have our own ways of thinking..

I'm surprised about "The HILdabeast" getting more votes than Obama. I've never EVER talked ANYone who supports hillary. Of course my small town of 5000 people is not a very good cross section of americans across the country but even in the news I don't see any huge support. I won't how much of her husnads coattails she is riding... if any.
