alright, heres my problem:
i downloaded the torrent from a site and in the detail section its .iso, but when i open it its .rar anyways i extract em, then infront of me theres cd1, and cd2, i started asking around they told me to get the no cd crack, so i got then started download, i downloaded cd1, then copied everything from cd2 into the directory, then copied the patch onto the directory.
when i load the game the screeeeen just turns black,and a border appears with grandia 2 on it, and only a border theres nuthin but black in it.
please help i really want this game to work.

Just a recap to keep things fresh. I had some of the issues mentioned here, heres the steps i took to resolve it.

1)ran in compatibility mode for windows 98/me.
2)disabled all aniscopic filtering on my graphics card.


I have yet to get to some of the other issues. also, i think its worth note that the 3d accually looks better then the videos.

also, had the problem with zap, that was solved by setting my resolution to match my windows settings.

I'm having a problem with the game as well but I looked through the entire thread and there was no mention of it.

I can get through the introduction and the video fine, but when I get to start a new game, I only see part of the images, they flicker and all that stuff. The sound is entirely fine and I can still "play" the game, but I don't really see much.

hey everybody:)I have another problem with Grandia II.A t first I had the same problem that almost everybody here had so the screen after opening was black etc.I have done everything that you sugested and it works^^ but I don't have sound when they have a conversationT_T At the beginning when Ryuudo and Skye appeared i hear them talking but later on when I was in first town i don't hear elena or anybody..I have just text and no sound.It's strange beacuse I hear music backround but I don't hear voices..could somebody please help me?

Finaly i got this working

I had the problem black screen after video intro. I tryed everything in this post. I dont have the 2 CDs, I have the 2 ISOs of the CDs, and I use Daemon to mount CD1 in F: and CD2 in G: Here is my solution:

1 - Uninstalled the game and all my codecs.
2 - Instaled the codec posted here by jpavly, http://rapidshare.com/files/34082593/Grandia_2_Codecs.rar.html
3 - Instaled the game in the default folder.
It still doesnt worked. I puted the crack. Still doesnt worked.
4 - I used Daemon to emulate the CD2 in 2 drives(F: and G:).

Thats it! Working everything, everytime. I didnt copy anything to any folder, nor used compatibility mode, nor changed anything in my graphic card.

Alright, I had the problem that a black screen apeared after u chose new game. Well to fix this, all you have to do is copy all the files from the visual map ON YOUR CD to your VISUAL map on your computer (most of the times: C:\Program Files\Grandia2\VISUAL) When i did this all i heard was some music after the loading screen, but just wait till the music is over and u get the movie where Ryudo kills the green monsters.

I need these two files, could someone please post them?

OK people...here's my issue. I'm playing this in win 98/me compatibility mode, nocd crack, and everything is working fine if I copy the files from CD2...but when I finish demon's law and then the inquisitor appears in front of the granasaber to revive valmar... the game starts asking for some .vms files, and then crashes. I managed to "make" those files and avoid the error dialogues, but the real problem is that I get another problem window with some weird characters and the only thing I manage to understand is the word "CD"... does any1 have this issue as well?

i only get myself up to the white blank screen with background music...ive tried everything posted here is there any other new alternative? please help...

I have the pc version of Grandia 2, but it won't run. When i start the exe file, a black screen comes up and it stops every time.

I haven't had any errors since I removed my codecs like xvid, divx (k-lite codecs), I'm playing very well now.

Istall the game (at any location you want)
copy crack (delete the original exe it's useles)
make configuration
delete folder "VISUAL" or rename it (the folder is useles)
mount cd 2 or put you're cd 2 in (incompetent crackers did this to us)
run the game (if screen goes black at any time press F9 to skip video F12 to exit the game)

NOTE: I search the net for cracks but it is only one i found and is the same everywere
the original and the cracked exe seem to be the same but it isn't.
original exe = 2,57 MB (2.703.969 bytes) ; modified = 18 - 02 - 2002, 10:59:00
cracked exe = 2,57 MB (2.703.969 bytes) ; modified = 24 - 03 - 2002, 23:52:54 (the game was cracked in 1 month)
must be the same size i think because maybe it's kind of protection i saw that stuff to other games too.

I just installed Grandia II PC, but every time I configure the game, then the game icon, it always asks me to configure the game with GmConfig.exe, no matter how many times I configure it. What's up with that?
