Which is better?

I bought WoW and played it for a few months. I mildy enjoyed it, but it wasnt worth the monthly fee. I got to about a lvl 30 and quit. I'm considering buying guild wars but I want to know if its better or worse than WoW.

Better Graphics IMO ... theyre more realistic

A storyline in each campaign

no monthly fees

WoW has more stufff but i didnt find it worth payin $15 a month to play a game which i wud play like 30 minutes a day

if i had more cash nd more time to play i prolly wud have went with WoW

You've come to the wrong forum, my friend to get the answer to this. You're in the Guild Wars forum, where the majority here have played Guild Wars at some point in time, and to have come here, must have enjoyed it even if only slightly.

I have never touched World of Warcraft in my life, so, I cannot tell you. I can tell you what I enjoy from my Guild Wars experience.

Upon first starting, I was pretty hooked. The graphics are more realistic than the cartoony texture WoW brings you, however, weapons, spells, skills, all tend to lack in creativity.

Player versus Environment, is absolutely boring. I won't go into definition as you won't know what the terms are. Basically, the story mode where you can play alone or with other players through a story. It's just boring. Little action, the story moves slowly, at least for me, this gives me little emotive to play it. Also, all your money and items really come from this, however. The cooler armor, weapons, all need to be obtained through story playing, so at least make the attempt.

Player versus Player, is amazing however. I love the whole balanced gameplay this brings. To every positive, there's a negative, and vice-versa. There's no such thing as 'high-level' abilities that only good players can get. Everyone can get everything. The profession you use, determines how well you can use those skills. You can't be invincible, someone is eventually going to take you down. Which is why Guild Wars is fun, when it's a team effort, to find every counter, and every buff and using it to kill your enemy. Mixing skills up to find builds that are awesomely effective.

However, that's just my opinion. Some people can't stand PvP, and only take on PvE. The game really reflects on the person as a whole, and lets you choose what GW lifestyle you want to pursue. It's a recommendation to all MMORPG starters and veterans. The game cost is all that's there, online play is free. With the exception of the monthly bill for the internet connection.

The game can get boring, but they have events during weekends to try and get you to play. Also, be sure to talk and adapt, make friends. They're really the reason why you'll come back repeatedly, is if you got some great team mates to do things with. Find a fun guild, especially when you start off, then move on to the higher, more serious guilds if you feel like you want to expand yourelf.

They're incomparable tbh. A more-likely debate would be LOTRO vs WoW, as LOTRO ripped the shit out of WoW. GW is just too different to bother trying to state the pros and cons.

Graphically, guild wars. Game play, Guld Wars. STuffy people who have no life and sit on their computer all day playing some MMORPG that they cant afford to start with, WoW. Yeah, Guild wars ownz.

Oh my god, not another one... You aren't going to get an intelligent debate from this forum, the WoW Fourm, or any other forum on the web. The thing is, everyone is either Strongly Pro-GW, Strongly Pro-WoW, never played either or just doesn't give a damn between the two. There are not many people who like one better but will seriously debate for the other one. Note that I said not many, if you're lucky you'll find one or two. Anyway:

GW > WoW:
No Monthly fees
More realistic Graphics
CoRPG: No kill stealing or waiting for respawns
Less Level Oriented
Relies on skill, not how long you've played
More intuitive PvP

WoW > GW:
Multiple Races
Larger area (Not much with the addition of GW: Nightfall though)
Mounts
More level oriented
More intuitive PvE

Hope that was enough, I'm going to play Guild Wars now.

See, that was exactly what I was talking about. One sided. Absolutely nothing good listed about WoW, nothing bad noted about GW.

I played WoW for a year after I played Guild Wars, and I could list the pros and cons for a very long time, but GW is better.

Well I started off with Guild Wars when I was 12 and I grew up with it. I simply cannot stay away for more than 2 months. I play WoW also and like both games, but Guild Wars will always be my "slight" favourite.

That slight could be sarcastic or literal, but I'm not sure which

OP, i played wow since it came out and until about now. It was a fun game in my opinion. It just took too much time to really get anywhere far with it. I find this game takes less effort, it is not gear dependent, and theres lots of variety of skill choices.
