Here's what I've been thinking we do after all the other info:
We take a screenshot of the worldmao from whoever has all the outposts on his map. Then, we label everything, including the territories (this is for everyones help). The design I picture it is so when you click an outpost or town, it has an info box (probaly multiple pages) in it. The boxes will include: Traders, Skill Trainers, if Skill Trainers what skills they sell, and all quests that start there with the name of who to talk to start it. Then for each Territory, it just has a listing of each Elite skill there, nothing to click on. Every elite skill, armour trader's name, skill name, mission name, or quests name will be a link to the appropriatte page that the detailed explanation of it is on.
It'll take sometime, but we really don't have much of a deadline anyways.
And if this portal comes through, I think we should releasal until maybe a couple months within 2006, so we can gather information on the Expansion.

Maybe, but I think I have just about every armor right now with the exception of FoW and early inthe game, which should be easy to get. I have a website that has pictures of what each look like, so I'll use that for reference.

Aight, guys. Lets hold all work on this off until a bit after the expansion, for we really have no idea of all the changes, and don't want to spend a month picking up information that will change.
Once we all get the expansion and play through it a little, then we'll start back up.

Since we know now that the expansion will be more or less adding content, rather than editing already-made content, I think we can put this back in action.
Our first step can be to gather quest guides and skill listings for each professions. For quest guides, we can have everyone create a new character, each with a different profession (to get the specific profession quests too), except no one will start writing the quest guides until they get to the area they were assigned to, except for the specific profession quests.
Either we can have everyone beat the game with their new characters, getting all the skills they can along the way, and have those get the skill listings for their profession, or have everyone use characters that already have every skill of a certain profession make their skill listing from that. What will be?
After we do that, I guess we can gather mission guides, armor, item, and upgrade componet databases, along with strategy/tactics PvP & Profession guides.
In addition, depending how long it takes to get the portal released, we might also need a section on Guild Wars Factions info.

Well, my Guild is pretty big and has a bunch of info and what not (part of the Ogaming network), and the leader has made dye charts and what not, I'm sure if I butter him up we can use that.
Also, we can ask the guys at gwfreaks.com if we can link to their page for the Guild Wars Toolkit, which is, in my opinion, the best thing I've ever used in aiding my adventures. It's got maps, skill caps, where to find it, etc etc. Next update they'll include all the quests I believe. They seem to be very humble people too.

Woah, that toolkit is like the brain of Guild Wars; it contains all the information. I installed and then started to play around with it; it's even more like actually creating a character in Guild Wars than I thought.
But by using just that, we'll have little content to actually display on the portal.
EDIT: Or we can still put skill listings, quest guides, item indexes etc. on the actual portal, so you can view it without having to download the tool or in case your having too much trouble with it.

I think that the most effective tactic into creating a non-developed portal is to first work on contents and then start organizing on whats going to be on the portal. I've been browsing through the thread and it seems like people have already been taking screenshots (items, dyes, armor, etc.)

We're still not even organized on whats going to happen, the best idea is to gather contents first by the contributions of other members, or by working on them ourselves.

Well, we're going to have to organize a way to get the content efficiently, or else we'll all end up retrieving the same content, and with so much to get it would take forever if we kept doing that. I still stand by my original bump, that it would be best if we create new PvE characters each (especially since you can't repeat quests once you've beaten them, which would make it harder to make quest guides).

there's only a couple months before the release and the prerelease is this month.
Red requested info to get a dummy going.
I think we need to focus on exclusive things other sites dont' have first. And once factions comes out solely focus on that rather than catching up on the first release. That will happen in time and it's not essential to drive traffic. What is essential is the best Factions info possible.
What really would be nice would be a Price Check database. A bunch of forums have them, but if we could get a hi/lo daily it would be excellent. I trade for fun myself so I getting pretty good with current prices. The best part though, is to update prices you don't have to buy anything, all you have to do is read the trade text or whisper.
We can also take pictures of all the Green/Gold items. Green item databases are pretty easy since there's so little of them, but Gold would be pretty big since those are actually purely random. Okay maybe gold is a bad idea...
What would be nice though is specific character builds for specific Green weapons. So that a build could take full advantage of all the enchantments or bonuses. For example, using victo's blade with a IW mesmer would be useless since the -1 drain would kill you and you wouldn't steal health.

We should gather the essentials first, like Skill Listings and Quest Guides, to have are site as resourceful as others first, than add more to make it better. quote CleavesF

I really like this idea, but it'd be tough to pull off because values can constantly change; all we'd need is to make sure we update it at least once or twice every week, as to not give out-of-date information. quote CleavesF

Okay maybe gold is a bad idea... That's a bit... pointless. Taking screenshots of armors is a better idea, which we had earlier. Items can look cool at times, but I don't know many people who really care much what they look more than it's actual capabilities. quote CleavesF

Sure, we can add it to the rest of the builds we'll create to display. Most good builds are usually centered around one thing, such as a weapon or skill, and expanded from there, so no doubt we could do it with Green weapons. But we have to remember to test builds in the game before actually putting them out for others to use.

What info should we gather? I'm up for a challenge.
I've come to like writing a few guides, build ideas and guides, what have you.
How should I go about posting information, like guides to character creation and what not, post them as FAQs or a new thread, or the sticked thread on tips and stratagys?

If you guys wanna store information, then PM it to Seventh Blade (or anyone handling the request part of the portal) so he can keep and organise it all or post it in the request thread (in the portal forum). Then you can forward (if stored in PM) it to chemical_rxn or link her to the thread (if stored in the portal forum thread) .
