Well, I exchanged one CDRW drive that I couldn't get to work for this drive. Now I'm wondering if it's my system setup or something that isn't working correctly. The drive shows up in my BIOS, Windows XP find the correct drivers for it, It says in My Computer that it is a CD-RW Drive, but when you go to the properties for the drive, it doesn't have a "Recoding" tab. Also, no burning software that I have tried has recognized the drive as an RW drive (Music Match, Windows Media Player 9Series, Roxio, and Nero). I hunted for firmware updates, and found none to upgrade my current firmware version.
The firmware version on my drive is listed on the label as being RQS3, and the BIOS on my computer recognizes it as being RQS4.
I have sent service requests to LITE-ON's tech department several times, and have not gotten any response (even to say "sorry, dude"). Anyone else know anything about this mystery?
I'm about to trade this drive in too!
