You may ask to close your thread after it has reached 15 pages. Posting in Digiports and You! » Please refrain from off-topic discussion in digiports. Additionally, digiports are not for bickering or arguing. If you have a qualm with someone, take it to PM or contact a moderator if the issue is breaking the forum rules. » Do not request graphics in a person's digiport. If you want to make a request, PM the artist or make a request in the Graphics Requests forum. Allowing and Recieving Critique » When giving critique, please provide constructive criticism. When recieving critique, prepare to accept positive and negative comments on your work. As long as it is constructive criticism, please understand that the person who comments is only trying to help you improve. Here are examples (not limited to) of what constructive criticism is and isn't: quote Right: Try adding some gradient maps to improve the colors and remove those dots. Right: There's no flow, and it lacks depth. The picture looks too sharp as well. Right: The piece looks really bad, to be honest. Those brushes are out of place, and the shapes don't really belong there. Also, the text is way out of place. (These are examples of what constructive criticism is. Yes, even the last two count as constructive criticism as they point out the defects in the piece so the artist can know what to improve on/what not to do in the future. The third one also counts as constructive criticism because even though the commenter gave a negative opinion, he/she still provided criticism to help the artist improve.) quote Wrong: You suck. Wrong: Your work is horrible. (In these, the person who commented only gave his/her opinion in a rather rude manner, but much more importantly, he/she did not point out any defects or suggest on what could be improved in the piece). Keep in mind these guidelines that point out whether something is constructive or not are not written in stone. Piece Description Encouraged » It is not mandatory that you explain the process of your work, but it IS encouraged. If you have the time, it would be beneficial to the G&A community for explanations/processes. Thread Titles and Sub-Titles » It is not encouraged to add extreme amounts of ASCII or unnecessary information in your titles, as it makes it easier to read without. However, no action will be taken if you choose to do otherwise (provided it's not an extremely long thread title with random nonsense). Wallpapers and Large Images » We request members to link or thumbnail large pieces, usually if it's more than around 600 pixels or so. Disabling Signatures » Signatures will be disabled automatically on digiports. However, it is up to the thread creator to ensure that signatures are disabled by contacting one of the forum moderators. Meanwhile, members are encouraged to disable their signatures, but will not be penalized for doing otherwise. Comics are Not Allowed » Digital Portfolios is reserved for digitally created artwork, not a storyboard illustrated visually with the use of sprites, backgrounds, and effects found from the web and pasted into a comic strip. Whether these Web comics are of high quality or not is not the question. 	And on another note. If you created a "blank" thread to prepare for your artwork, please add "- [ Coming Soon ]" to your title header so we know the thread is empty. When you actually post your digital artwork up, you'll be updating the thread anyways and just remove that tag. -Because it's evil and annoying to check your thread to see nothing. Be considerate and not waste the viewer's time if you're not going to show your digital artwork right away.

	I would like to request everyone to link wallpapers and large images from now on. If you want the viewers to have a preview of the large piece, please make a thumbnail. Images that have a size larger than 500 pixels should be linked. This would also reduce the stress on the hosts that you are using. Thanks for your cooperation.

	We are now introducing to the public the new Periodical Critique function, code named PC. If you want comments on your work, but you don't want your thread being filled up with other's posts, this is for you. Just place PC in your thread title (which will later be moved to your Thread Caption), and when you want your portfolio to be cleared of all comments, PM a G&A mod for the request. Notice Edited - Placing PC in your thread title is no longer necessary. If you would like your portfolio to be cleaned out, simply PM a FORUM MODERATOR. 	We have seen a number of people who are always forgetting to disable their signatures in threads, be it someone else's portfolio, or their own. Here's the deal, if we see enabled signatures, we will remove it, but there will be a corresponding warning #. (e.g. Warning 1) The result of the warnings imposed on a member will be as follows: 1. There will be a maximum of 3 warnings. If you are found guilty of having a signature for the 4th time, you will be restricted to 1 post per day. 2. If that member continues to post with a signature after being given a post restriction, he will be banned for 3 days, and his/her portfolio will be shut down during that period. 3. The suspension lengthens depending on the stubborness of that member to disable his/her signature. You can view the warning/suspension list on the first post of this thread. This has been implemented due to various complaints about signatures in portfolios. Please abide by this new policy/rule. Thanks. Notice Edited (June 2005) - Warnings and tallies will no longer be kept of members who leave their signature on in threads. Members who excessively leave their signature on or members who gather several complaints from others will be warned/suspended. Notice Edited (June 2007) - In light of developments to Neoforums, forum signatures are now to be disabled automatically in each thread. Members should continue to ensure that their signatures are disabled manually if posting in a thread without the automatic signature disabling applied. However, no penalties will be handed out to members found to be posting with their signatures enabled. 	From now on we ask that you please don't put any kind of ASCII art in your titles (i.e. -==- or .::. etc). It makes it hard to read and long. If you want to include something like that in your digital porfolio, just do it in your first post or in your header (by asking me or Khul to slide it in). We also ask that you just either use your name or nickname in your digi port title, or some catchy phrase. But not both please. (When thinking of a catchy phrase, think of something that would link to you [i.e - not something like My Art Gallery]). 	Nobody is allowed to make new portfolio threads without the permission of the moderators. Please send a NeoPM to Kuldahar and/or Sixth Gauge prior to creating one. When sending the PM, it would be best to create a link to the old thread to be closed. ##Related Notice Lastly, it is not ensured that you will be allowed to make a new Portfolio thread. From now on, only threads reaching the page of 15 will be allowed to request closure. Notice Edited (June 2005) - You may request for thread closure at 15 pages (in order to create a new portfolio), but you will be forced to create a new portfolio after 20 pages. You will have 30 days to move any graphics from old to new before your old portfolio is deleted. Notice Edited (June 2007) - You may request for thread closure at 15 pages in order to create a a new portfolio but you will now be forced to create a new portfolio after 30 pages. 	Since the daily featured artwork has not been updated for an extended period of time, I have decided to update it myself, but only on a bi-weekly basis, since it would be rather tedious to be doing it every day. Also, people are still not remembering to disable their signatures, some even in their own portfolio threads. Please remember to do this, and thread originators should be setting a good example for the people who post in your threads anyways.

	I doubt people care to check this thread for the new featured banner. I know I haven't since June. Maybe you should make add it to the forum header, much like you have done in G and A.

	From now on, Critique Allowed Status will be the assumed status of your portfolio threads unless stated otherwise (rather pointless to have "CA Status" in most of the thread captions). As a reminder, the other possible statuses are No Critique (NC) and Periodic Critique (PC)
