re: stellar manipulation

I had the same problem, but havent figured out where to put the ships. Build a space base yard, the more the better at least 5. Move them to a system(where in the system, i havent figured that out.) build the star bases with the appropriate componets. you will need a total of 11 bases, 5 with cable, and 5 with the plating, and one with the proper stellar componet,to have everything you need. I always got an warning that I,m in the wrong location.

re: stellar manipulation

You need to build the starbases on a star, I've just completed a ring world it says it's as big as five large worlds but I can't do anything with it nor can I transport civilians to it. Can anyone help on this problem?

re: stellar manipulation

Once you've managed to build a Ringworld or Sphereworld around a star you must colonize it. When I built a Ringworld the description said it was as big as 5 large worlds, however I could fit 32B pop on it. (that's 4 huge worlds) Sphereworlds are double that population.
I want to know if the star you build at must be in an uninhabited system or if not whether it has a detrimental effect on any planets circling that star.

re: stellar manipulation

How to construct a Ringworld/Sphereworld :

You will need :
- Space Yards tech, the higher the better;
- Starbase size (highest base construction tech)
- Gravitic Plating and High-Density Cables tech, together with the Ringworld/Sphereworld tech (Stellar Manipulation)
- A heck of a lot of resource generating facilities, it will cost you a song in construction and maintenance.
- A star. MUST be built in the same sector as the star.

Next :
1) Design 4 ships : 1 ship with the spaceyard module, 3 starbases with the Gravitic Plating, High-Density Cables, and Ringworld/Sphereworld modules. Add in a spaceyard to the starbases if you can afford it and want it to go faster.
2) Using the construction ship, build the following at the star :
- For a Ringworld, 1 Ringworld Placement, 5 each of Gravitic Plating and High-Density Cables.
- For a Sphereworld, 1 Sphereworld Placement, 10 each of Gravitiv Plating and High-Density Cables.
3) Once they are all completed (allow several game years), select the starbase with the Placement devices and choose Stellar Manipulation from its command bar, then Construct. If everything is in place, then you'll have yourself a brand new Ringworld/Sphereworld. Build a colony ship and claim it before someone else does.

Some things I discovered about Ringworlds/Sphereworlds :
- It seems the star becomes stable, so it won't have any detrimental effect on it.
- You lose the star, i.e. the system is one star short, if you have ships with Solar Panels or planets with Solar Generators, you will notice it.
- Preferably build the worlds on a planetless system, or in a binary/trinary system, if you're so dependant on solar energy.
