Story...

I don't seem to get the storyt even though I have finished the game a few times...you know the cutscene where Kairi asks Selphie if she remember the boys who used to hang around with her all the time and how come Selphie only remebers Riku but not Sora?

When Organization XIII feared Sora, they used Namine's powers to imprison him. Along with Sora, they imprisoned everybody's memories of him too. Except when Namine knew it was wrong, even against the nature of a Nobody, she started to slowly release the memories of Sora back to his friends. Roxas was just harvested from Sora's body because Sora was strong and so his Nobody would be strong too. But Roxas got Sora's memories too and knew something was wrong. You go to the mansion and the White Room and rejoin with Sora's body and you know the rest from there. Extremely complicated storyline, I know, but that's what makes it good.

I guess you'd have to play CoM to understand, seeing as how that takes place between KHI and II [I think??]

Yes, it does.

CoM took place directly after KHI, and ended a year before KHII (when Sora slept for a year).

Although it isn't neccessary to play CoM, it does help people understand the story better. Little things like the "Thank Namine" written in Jiminy's journal, are all explained in CoM.

It also gives us a more in-depth look at the Organization, when they were all alive.



If anyone is interested, I suggest watching these videos (for all people who haven't played CoM).
They show the important parts of CoM's story. It saves people from having to play the game.

between Kh 1 and 2 every memory of Sora is taken from the world, Kairi remembers (sort of) cos of her connection to Sora, and she doesn't fully remember (nor does anyone but Riku and Mickey oddly) until roxas (and xion) return to him and put all his memories back to where they should be,
kh 358/2 days fills in most of the gaps Kh 1 and 2 don't tell you.
