SWON help
|
I just got this game today, along with a Lochitech Extreme 3D pro joystick. I've never owned either a flying game or a joystick until now. I've read the manual and assigned my controller functions correctly. My problem is before I try to fly missions, I want to learn the game in the Instant Action mode. When I load it up I get shot down by planes I can't see. Which camera view are you supposed to use in order to see the enemy plane? I have the target lock function set, but i doesn't seem to help. I know I'll enjoy the game once I get the basics down. So any help would be appreciated. thanks, foghat

Hmm, mate, seems like you have it for the PC, and this is the PS2 forum... but I don't want to turn you away.
Blast it, I don't have a copy with me now; gave it to a friend to borrow. Ah, well, let's see... you're getting shot down by bogies you can't see. Alright, then...
First off, you seem to be intelligent. You know about the target-lock system; that's good. Of course, that only works for one target, and it's most likely not the one that's attacking you. You probably found that out already. Well, then, have you tried looking in reverse? Almost like you are looking into the rearview mirror of a car. Don't remember which button that function is, but it just may save your life, so I recommend that you learn it quickly.
In addition, you might want to learn your command options. If you hear steel bouncing off your fuselage, then order your wingmates to defend you. That's probably your best defense once your attacked.
Then there's always maneuvering away, which is, unfortunately, difficult to do, at the least. Try your best to wriggle out of the enemies sight's, and set your target lock onto the airplane that's attacking you.
Lastly, mate, experience is probably the biggest factor. As you become a better pilot, you'll learn new strategies and such and be able to survive intense firefights. I recommend taking Trevor's training missions before you start the campaign or you try out the Instant Action. It will help you a great deal.
Alright, mate, I hope this will help. Best of luck to ya! And please visit often, I'm on here everyday, and I'd love to help you out anyway I can. I'll be getting my copy back this week, and then I'll be able to offer you even better advice.
