Wow this turned out to be really wrong but all the connections made between VC, LC, the Liberty Tree, and made up connections to SA are damn good.
I'd like to see R* go more in depth with the already existing stories between the gangs. Like lets say that right after the events of VC Tommy heads up to LC to try to control the mafia up north. He thinks he should be the succesor to the buisness of the Forelli Mafia since he was the one who took out Sonny. So when the Vercetti Mafia arrive they learn that there is already another mafia trying to take over the Forelli's buisness, the Leone Mafia. So after a 3 way blood bath power struggle the Leone's own the LC mafia. The Vercetti Mafia couldn't win because they were short of men, since they came from out of town. And the Forelli's were unable to take control because of the damage done by Tommy Vercetti. Discouraged, Tommy heads back down south to VC. Determined not to stop on his quest for supreme power, Vercetti decides that they should go set up on the Southwest coast, to control drug trafficing from Asia, South America, and Mexico.
So now flash forward to 2001. Vercetti contols Vice City and San Andreas, and the Leones own LC. But the death of Don Salvatore Leone in 2001 has damaged the Leone's, as bad as the murder of Sonny Forelli hurt the Forelli Mafia. So now the Leone's are loosing power in LC. The continuing turf war with the Triads has killed off many Leone's, and the people of LC are loosing respect for the them, no longer fearing them. The Forelli's see their oppurtunity to strike and take it. They declare war with the Leone's, and take sides with the Triads becaue of their diminished numbers. Short into this gang war Tommy Vercetti learns of the news of Don Leone's death. Still embarassed of his loss in LC so many years ago he realizes this is his chance to take revenge. He heads up north once again, determined to win. When he arrives he learns that the Forelli's are involved, and already have taken over most of St. Marks. He knows that the Forelli's have sided with the Triads, and he knows if he wants a shot at owning the mafia he also needs to side with the locals. So he meets with the Japanese Yakuza, and makes a deal with them. In exchange for helping the Vercetti Mafia, the Yakuza will get land in San Andreas and ports to ship contraband to and from Japan. The Yakuza agree and form an alliance with the Vercetti Mafia, both in Liberty City and San Andreas. Now the Yakuza are fighting with the Vercetti's against the alliance of the Triads and Forelli's who are trying to exterminate the last of the Leones. The Yakuza/Vercetti alliance begin to take over St. Marks, overpowering the Triads and Forelli's. At this point the Leone's are all dead or gone, abdoning all hope. It looks apparent that the Vercetti Mafia will finally own LC, doing away with the Forelli's once and for all. But then the Yakuza learn that the Vercetti Mafia has been doing buisness with the Columbian Cartel, the Yakuza's rival after the death of Kenji Kasen, an execution completed by the Cartel. As it turns out Tommy has done buisness with the Cartel in VC ports. The Yakuza break off the alliance with Vercetti, and told him to leave town or die. With this turn of events the Forellis take over the mafia in LC. But down south in San Andreas the Yakuza are refusing to give up land given to them by the Vercetti Mafia.
At this point in time(present time) the Forelli Mafia now have control over the LC mafia after hiding in the shadows for 15 years. Vercetti still owns all of VC, his home town. But now in San Andreas there is a war between the Vercetti Mafia and the Yakuzas. The Vercetti's demand their property back since the Yakuza broke off the alliance, but the Yakuza say the Vercetti's were the ones who double crossed them, associating with the enemy. The Yakuza refuse to give up the land and war is declared. And this is where the game picks up. You are a Vercetti fighting against the Yakuza in San Andreas.
It seems kind of un-original to have you play as a Vercetti in the game but if they had it go really far in depth like this story then it would work. It would be cool if they told a story like this throughout the whole game in flashback, telling a little part of the story in movies as the game progresses. When I wrote this I tried to include stuff from VC, like Vercetti, Vercetti Mafia, on-going war between Vercetti's and Forelli's; GTA3, like the Leone's, the fact that Forelli's are still left in LC, turf war between Leone's and Triads, death of Don Leone, Leone and Yakuza rivalry, death of Kenji, Columbian Cartel vs. Yakuza; and the Liberty Tree, such as the 1986 blood bath in LC for control of the mafia.
