In the temple grounds, when your heading to the sky fortress, i went into a portal that i couldnt get into earlyer in the game, and i go through a dark narrow path with a whole lot of phazon in a hole, where a dark metroid pops out, i kill him, go into the next area, where the shadow metroids pretty much gather.

I look around, and what was really creepy is i saw a space pirate commando floating with glowing eyes in the eerie darkness, i think a shadow metroid was carrying him around by the head

Anyone have any clue why this happens in hard mode?

When u see a Dark Metroid up close, it looks like he has little eyes around his body. Maybe i'm wrong. I found it funny when I saw one carryin a space pirate.
Maybe what u saw it's just to discourage you?

Every time I saw D metroids in dark rooms, I just went to morph ball,rolled around the whole room until all noticed me and then, or Power Bomb 'em, or go back to biped form and kill them like a normal metroid.

I found out later that he was carrying the space pirate from the back and the metroid was the orange glowing eyes, lol, when i decided to let a metroid latch on to me he got really big, then let go, then turned smaller

Metroids digest energy? how?
