SOMS
|
Looking through the FM 2006 and 2007 forums, i see many ppl doing Story Of My Season(s), and i think that we should also start this. Most of the time a season just takes 5 hours for me to complete if i don't mess around much. So wat say you people, start SOMSing? Please don't tell your stories about big teams e.g. Real Madrid, Man Utd, Chelsea etc. Take a challenge and lets see how you struggle through the season

not much to my season really i started out as dagenham, and sold half the team, then brought in players like makela and g reina(free transfer)from dortmund, then got promoted to the third division comfortably, am currently in the third division doin ok am second after 32 games so its not bad and makela is the top goal scorer, I have just reached the 6th round of the FA cup after beating Wigan 4-2 at home in a shock result, have drawn either middlesbourgh or coventry in the next round... i would prefer coventry but ill take whatever i get, ill keep you posted

fair enough, just to update i got drawn against middlesbrough cos they beat coventry 3-1 i played them at home, and it was a tense match that ended 3-3 with Juho Makela and Oksarsson scoring the goals. Then the replay came along and i won convincingly 3-1 with goals from micheal higdon. At this point i was sitting top of the third division and was crowned third division champions with 9 games remaining in the season, I was then drawn against Leeds in the semi finals of the FA cup but i was soundly beaten 3-1, Leeds went on to win the FA cup on penalties against Tottenham. Am currently trying to recruit youngsters for my team, just for backup 2 the first team, particularly a central defender, a central midfielder, and a striker, am looking at Steve Kabba, currently of Sheffield United, but they are asking for 400,000 which is a bit more than I wanted to spend but I might go for it bcos he is a good striker who scored 23 goals in 30 games but he thinks that his club is underacheiving, so he wants to move. Any suggestions of players i coculd buy for a small budget.
There you go is that better

For a team like Sheffield Wednesday, staying put in the 2nd division is old talk. It is time for a revolution, a change.
This change came half-way through the season when the newly appointed manager Sunny Haxworth took over. Currently lying 12th position in the 2nd Division, it looked like Sunny would have to press hard to even reach the playoffs.
The first 3 games were a big test for Sunny, as he faced Northampton, QPR and Grimsby, which all turned out to be losses.
Sunny then managed to bring in a few players to strenghten the squad and used a 4-4-2 attacking formation using the team's Midfield to produce awesome displays
Players in: Fredy (free) - Young and strong defender Andre Cruz (free) - Experienced centre-back (Age: 35!!!) Porhallsson (55k) - Sunny spent all his budget on this attacker Shavar (free) - A very promising defender Tano (free) - An explosive winger and sunny needed a gem for his squad, so in came: Freddy Adu (free)
Loans in: Braathen Thomas Butler Rob Edwards David Pipe
After this Sunny came out a match, winning 6-0 against Plymouth. Continuing soon after Sunny managed to keep the team 14 games undefeated and were fixed 3rd position in the league.
Going to the playoffs, it wouldn't be easy as the loan deals for: Butler Edwards Pipe were finished.
Sheffield were to play Colchester and Tranmere to face Peterborough.
In the 1st leg, Sunny's team came out lucky winners as they won the game 4-3, in which Braathen starred scoring one of the fastest hat-tricks, in the space of 7 minutes!!
In the 2nd leg, Sheffield came out easily winning 2-0, on aggregate winning 6-3.
Then Sunny found out that they would have to face Tranmere in the finals. Dreading this, as his team had lost to them previously on 2 occasions, he readied his team for the battle. Both sides managed a few fair shots but the killer instinct and the excellent finishing of the strikers, Sheffield managed to win the game 5-1, in which Porhallsson recieved Man of the Match.
I shall update for the next season soon.

sounds like you have a good team there, but spending all the budget on 1 player is a bit risky, but it looks like it has paid off 4 u so thats good i guess

sorry for the double post but this is my update
players in - Bryan Irvine (Hearts, free, 17) Teddy Sheringham (free, coach/player, 40) Aiden McGeady (Celtic free 16) Players out - Danny Shipp (Nuneatonburgh, free)
Have just started my third season in charge of Dagenham, am currently getting the friendlies out of the way, have started with a comfortable 3-0 win over yeovil, then another impressive 4-2 victory against a conference team, the only friendly left is against Charlton, who are still in the premiership!! hopefully we can win, allthough there are a few injury worries ahead of this game, to Makela, and my top scoring midfielder Micheal Higdon.

yeah that is what I am currently doing, have managed to bring in Brian Irvine, a 16 year old right back from Hearts, and Craig Ferguson, a central defender from hearts, also 16. I have also signed Slyvan Ebanks Blake on a free transfer he is 20 or something like that, he used to play for man utd his stats on CM scout look pretty good, has a lot of potential, u got any screenshots of your team yet??

Hey that looks like you had a pretty convincing title win there, im just starting my third season in charge of Dagenham, have got Cambridge on the opening day, they are favourites for promotion, am not looking forward 2 it, and did i also mention I havent bought any new players apart from a few youngsters (mentioned earlier), for some reason players are not attracted to my club, can't understand why.
This is my update for the start of the season.
Started no to badly, i won 3-1 against Cambridge, then beat lincoln 5-0 in league cup, but they beat me 2-1 in the league, then played walsall, and millwall and won both of them so im sitting at the top of the league, and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake is my top goalscorer, for some reason Juho Makela hasn't quite hit form yet, not sure why, allthough I am sitting top of the league, it is only by goal difference, but hopefully I can stay there for a while screenshots to follow

Hi all...
i wanna share my stories too...
recently i plays my CM 03/04 again. this time i go with Wigan Athletics, and just started yesterday.
the board only afford me 3,5 million. its absolutely enough for me coz by experience in the past i still remember what to do with that limited transfer funds. yes, cheap but good players. its still has its fun, reopening again the old memories about this game. this is the best series of manager games IMO.
so here it is... time goes by and my team sit at the very first place at the England first division league table. its April 2004 now, seems like my team will be playing in the top flight next season.

journalists said that my team will surely suffer and ends in the bottom of the table. so i have to prove them that theyre wrong! first, i know i have to get that Oskarsson boy. nyah... this lad has great scoring ability with minimum cost, best deal for tiny club like Wigan. just as i thought before, he is now sit atop at the topscorers list respectively with his 32 goals till this April. he can score both as a midfielder or a striker. surely a badass goalmachine.

the other, i snapped up Lionel Morgan and Jobi McAnuff with no sweat. both only costs me 1,2 million. you know, Wimbledon has some financial problems and have to sold their nice players, and they will agreed with some acceptable price (400k for Morgan and 800k for McAnuff ). also i dont forget with the other great lads for "The Promotion Battle" ; like Peter Weatherson, Joakim Austnes, Hjalmar Porarinsson (i just signed him at the second transfer window and hes already scored 4 goals in his first 4 match, exactly scored 1 goal in his every match. hes injured now though...). fortunately, im able to loan Richie Partridge from Lvp, hes surely add depth in my squad. its lucky too that Wigan already has its goalmachine, Nathan Ellington. but i have to be patient because for the first 4 months hes out of injury. now the only problem is in the defence line. Wigan sucks at this.
ive lost the League Cup in the first round, beaten by Crystal Palace 2-1 thanks to the stupidity of my goalie and two CB in the front of him. then the answers come. Orlando Montalvan, the cheap-great American center back and Mohammed Hamza, left fullback from Ghana should be enough for this division. as for the goalie, Jani Viander is free for me to landed him to the JJB Stadium. now with this new reinforcements, my Wigan is ready to fight.
since the squad needs some subs that can plays good, i need some sacrifice. not-so-good original players must go. and with the money ive got now i can brought Aaron Lennon from Leeds. he's free of charge but i must pay the compensation. the other one is Jose "the must have" de la Cuesta. hes lil bit expensive though, costs me 1,2 million euro. but i know that its very very worthy.
now, my team runs well and the succes in the FA Cup follow. my team reach the Final, to face Liverpool. in the process, my team struggle at the first step, won 4-3 from Blackpool (what the heck...). then its went smoothly. the best achievement is in the semifinal. lil bit luck with the draw, i just only have to face Leicester instead of Chelsea and Liverpool.
right before the match, i signed this lad, Timon van Leeuwen from Feyenoord. i paid 300k for the compensation, thats my last money i have for this season. but its worthy. i play him in the FA Cup Semifinal, and he goes berserk.

unbelievable... hes only 16 and in his debut for my team he managed a hat-trick! and dont forget, thats all happen in the FA Cup Semifinal... god i'm sure that this lad will become some football-monster someday... huehehe
