Mighty No. 9, the little robot that could, has now raised over $3,300,000 for its Kickstarter campaign and still has 18 hours to go. That means the game, initially planned only for PC, will now be ported to Mac/Linux, PS3, 360, Wii U, and after reaching its latest mark will also come to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Mega who? We're talking next-gen side-scrollers. To celebrate, comcept has released a teaser video from the game's quickly produced protoype.
When Keiji Inafune initially announced Mighty No. 9 it was no stretch to imagine the project would be successful, but $3.3 million? Even Capcom has to have applied both palms firmly to their face by now. There's a simple statement to be read here: people want more Mega Man, now. Oof, I'm not exactly sure if it's alright to say that here. Mega Man. This isn't Mega Man; this is Mighty No. 9. Long live Mighty No. 9.
There's still 18 hours left in the Kickstarter project for Mighty No. 9 with only $20 required for a digital copy of the game when it releases in April 2015 (tentatively). Currently the game will be coming to PS4, XONE, PS3, 360, Wii U, PC, Mac and Linux, but if the project reaches $3.5 million before the project ends then it will also come to PS Vita and 3DS. Check out the prototype teaser below and feel the nostalgia ooze out of the computer monitor. It's worth its weight in gold.
