Nintendo have confirmed Paper Mario 2!
This weeks' edition of the Japanese games magazine "Famitsu" comes with confirmation of a new Paper Mario game in development! The sequel to the cult N64 RPG is provisionally titled Mario Story 2 -the Japanese name for the first game was Mario Story.
The game will take place using a similar 2D graphics engine to the original game and is apparently being developed by the developer of the original game, Intelligent Systems.
In Paper Mario, players took on the role of the pleasant porky plumber in a 2D style RPG with a menu-driven battle system, it was released towards the end of the N64s' life, so few got to play it. But those that did, however, lauded it as one of the most enjoyable games in the N64s' library.

quoteNews: Metal Arms Sequel Snuffed
By Tim - Apr 1st 2004 17:52
------------------------------------------
The planned Metal Arms sequel has been canned by Vivendi-Universal, despite the critical praise given to the original, released during Christmas 2003.
Swingin' Ape's art director Scott Goffman reportedly said /p> "Unfortunately it's true, VU Games is not interested in a Metal Arms sequel at this time. We have a ton of ideas for Metal Arms 2, including new character, weapon, and environment designs, so we're hopeful that we'll be able to come back to the Metal Arms universe sometime in the future.
"Meanwhile, we're working on several potential projects; I can't give any details at this time, but they'll definitely have the same level of action and quality that people loved in Metal Arms. Well, the few people that bought it, anyways."
Have Vivendi dug another grave? Maybe the worse choise since Crash on the Gamecube. So it looks like other great game has been shot down.

Sounds like it was due to poor sales of the original...
