Both games look very cool and well done. Which one do you think will rein supreme?

Killzone, but cold winter still looks hella sweet, good graphics, weapons, levels, RAGDOLL EFFECT (no crappy shit death animations thank god) this game looks dope

Although Killzone will probably reign supreme in sales (considering how much publicity and attention the game has already recieved), I have a feeling that Cold Winter might turn out to be a better game (quality-wise) in teh end. However, both games look highly promising, so it'll be interesting to see which of the two ends up more enjoyable.

I like both games but Cold Winter's stupid amount of blood and gore is more fun.

I have now played both games and feel I can make an accurate comparison. In terms of atmosphere, Killzone kills Cold Winter. I mean, there's never a part in Cold Winter where I was like "Oh shit, there's no way I'm getting out of this" like there was in Killzone. That's about the only advantage Killzone has over this game. I mean, the weapon models might be a bit slicker in Killzone, but the weapons in Cold Winter handle better, in my opinion, and the ability to combine items for even more weapons adds to the fun. The ragdoll physics are clearly a winner for Cold Winter, even if the graphics are a bit clunky. I love shooting the fuel barrels and watching random idiot guards fly across the screen. Not to say that the guards are complete idiots in Cold Winter though, they use cover and lay suppressing fire and are a lot smarter than the Helghast. I liked Killzone's story, but I think Cold Winter clearly has it beat. The espionage, betrayal, all that good stuff just destroys the cliche aliens attack the planet thing.

As for online play, I can't really comment yet because I haven't had a chance to take Cold Winter online. I can't imagine it would be much worse than the Killzone experience, where the weapons and spawn locations are clearly off-balance on several maps (*cough* BEACHHEAD *cough*), but overall I have to give the nod to Cold Winter. Neither of them touch the recent X-Box and PC FPS releases, though, unfortunately.
