System link problem

I got a system link cable and my friend brought over his xbox and we hooked them up to seperate TVs to play Star Wars Battlfront 2, so now in the game system link shows up as an option (before it didn't so now I'm assuming that it knows it's hooked up) I hosted a game and when he goes to join a game no games show up even though I'm hosting one. We tried hosting games on both systems and niether work. Does anybody know why it's doing this and how fix it?

Yes I am positive because before I tried a 1-way and it didn't even acknoledge it. So when I tried the 2-way the system link option came up in the multiplayer menu on both of our X-boxes. So I hosted a game and he went to search game and nothing showed up, we refreshed a million times and then he tried hosting a game and I searched but the same thing happened.

It's not the cable because without the right kind the system link option doesn't even show up in the game menu. I'm pretty sure It's something to do with the game but nobody is responding in the Battlefront 2 forum.
