Wolfenstein: The New Order's "Stealth vs. Mayhem" trailer should cause some confusion just due to the title. "Stealth? In Wolfenstein? What even," was also my initial reaction, but the truth of the matter is much more understandable. As the trailer opens, an older gentleman with a heavy accent and an itchy trigger finger says to B.J., "Kill everyone." Stealth or mayhem, B.J. will do just that. Wolfenstein expects bloody justice no matter what style of experience a player chooses.
B.J. is a proper, respectful fellow and so when the old man, err, gentleman asks him to kill all the Nazis then B.J. does just that. It's great to see that both paths of destruction have an assortment of tools at their disposal to complete their goals. Stealth has a variety of silencers, melee abilities, knife throws, and methods of traversal. Mayhem, on the other hand, has double shotguns, double machine guns, a sliding kick, and of course double sniper rifle. Wolfenstein done right, everybody.
I was able to play this level a few months back. My personal experience with it involved completing about half of it stealth and then everything went wrong and the second half was mayhem. To be honest, my run was very similar to how the whole trailer played out -- careful, slow, precise movements followed by all of my cares flying away. As well as my bullets. All of them also flew. Into the Nazis.
Wolfenstein: The New Order will be available on May 20 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
