Maxis and Electronic Arts have just confirmed via Twitter that we'll get our first real look at The Sims 4 at gamescom, which starts on August 21. Announced in early May, Maxis went out of its way to assure fans that The Sims 4 would be an entirely single-player, entirely offline experience. Keep in mind the announcement came in the midst of the controversy over SimCity. Hooray for the return of that little green diamond!
Here's the full tweet, sent out via the official The Sims 3 Twitter account:

If you recall from the original announcement post, the date of gamescom (August 21-24) lines up pretty well with a scheduled fan event during the same time period. Fansites were invited to a special event to check out The Sims 4 starting three weeks into August. If things work out right, we'll be getting impressions from a ton of fansites as well as the greater media all at the same time.
Mark late August on your calendar, we'll be buried in more The Sims 4 news than we can handle soon enough.
