Windows 7 - Still secure |
|
Link
well windows 7 has been out for a while now, and so far, MS has not released any patches for the operating system, which seems to say a lot about the differences between 7 and vista. i wonder how long windows 7 can last until it needs a patching. -------------------

yeah the critical updates. so far there have been no security compromises that would warrant a patching.

I mostly get windows defender updates each day or two, that seems about all. The OS is still new though so give it time something eventually comes up that needs serious patching.

Windows Defender and Microsoft's new anti virus software (Security Essentials, right?) are actually pretty good.

quote ParanahJoeNice little fact is that Microsoft released an emergency patch for all Windows systems except Windows 7 and Microsoft Server 2008, because they found another critical leak. Here is the November security bulletin and here is the critical leak. ------------------- ![]()

re: Windows 7 - Still secure |

I use windows defender cause it's just there. Never slows my computer down while scanning whenever it does. I pair defender with the second option of UAC and windows advanced firewall and I'm quite sure my computers safe from everyday things. It's only me using it, it's indeed locked when i'm not sitting at my desk and I know what to look for when I'm using the machine. Maybe if I was letting other people touch my pc I would up the security on it, but I, myself, dont go around opening suspicious e-mails, browsing to phishing sites and I take extra precautions when downloading files and folders off the net. I think I'm safe.

You might as well have it to be honest unless you're that desperate for performance.
