This has been bugging me for a while so was wondering if any of you knew how to fix it. Whenether I try to sign into MSN I always get the error that the service is temporarily down. So I try trouble shooting and apparently it's my key ports that have an error. I turn off all my firewalls and it still doesn't work. It also says to review my proxy settings by accessing WLM options even though I don't know how to do that.

What error code do you get?

Doesn't give an error code as such, but says We cannot sign you into Windows Live Messenger. Then under that it says what I said before, temporally unavailable and stuff.

If you open Internet Explorer, go to Tools> Internet Options> Connections> LAN Settings, tick Use a proxy server and enter webcache.virginmedia.com for the address, and 8080 for the port.

Keep clicking OK until you're out of all the options, reload Windows Live Messenger and try to sign in again.

What do you mean by keep clicking OK until I'm out of options? I click OK then it takes me back to the previous menu, what are the options?

I forget how many extra windows it opens while you're in the options, just click OK to close them all until you're back to just internet explorer.

Are you directly plugged in via your modem or are you connected to a router? Also, do you use Spybot S&D?

Directly plugged in, and no I don't use Spybot. Also tried uninstalling and reinstalling MSN but got the same error.

Try uninstalling it with Revo Uninstaller. It cleans out programs more thoroughly then a normal uninstaller. (also checks leftover temporary files, installation directories, registry values and so on)
