Windows Vista Memory Problem BIOME-1 |
|
Sometimes my computer randomly freezes or the monitor stops working. I ran a windows diagnostics test, and it said something about memory, saying BIOME-1.
What is BIOME-1 and how do I fix it? ------------------- ![]()

I couldn't find what the BIOME-1 means, however I've seen people having to return the failed memory module, so if your laptop is still under warranty, get the RAM replaced.

I have a desktop PC.
Let me list all the things I notice happens. 1. Computer freezes at HP Invert Blue screen, keyboard and mouse aren't responsive. 2. Sometimes I turn on computer, monitor stays at yellow light, not responding to computer. 3. Sometimes, I get to the desktop, and it freezes. Sometimes the blue light on the tower turns orange-yellow. 4. Sometimes, I will think it works fine, then the monitor goes to standby mode, and it won't turn back on. Keyboard and mouse are unresponsive. ------------------- ![]()

if you have more than one stick of RAM, then you can easily find out if it is a stick of RAM by opening up your computer, removing all but one stick of ram, turning the computer on, testing, then turn off, swap the ram for another one, and repeat this until all sticks have been tested. whichever stick of ram you have the problem on is the one that has the issue, as long as its only one stick that has the problem (too much of a coincidence if more than one has it). if you only have one stick, the only thing you could try is swapping the slots the ram is in.
only do this if your computer is not under warranty. most if not all warranties are void if you open the computer up (theyll usually have a sticker which would need to be ripped before opening up the case. -------------------

Okay, I found out I have 5 sticks of RAM. One is 2 GB, and the others are 1 GB.
How do I know how sticks of RAM look? ------------------- ![]()

Um what?
Most MOBO only have 4 slots, unless you're using an i7 build or a server MOBO. The Memory sticks look like this. If they're higher quality they'll have heatspreaders

Oh, I meant 4 sticks. I have 5GB's total. One of them is a 2GB. The other 3 are 1GB.
I opened my computer before, but I couldn't see anything that was a stick of RAM. I have an HP Pavillion Media Center m8530f PC, Windows Vista 64bit if that helps. I updated my BIOS, could that help? ------------------- ![]()

You still couldn't fine it?
Would you mind posting a picture of the inside maybe we can help you find it. Nope BIOS update wouldn't change the ammount of RAM. Are you using a 64 bit OS?

I will show you a picture soon.
The weird thing is, it only happens a couple times, and after awhile, it just stops until I turn it off. Any reason on this? ------------------- ![]()

Now it sounds like a heat problem.
Download and run memtest. Also download and run the memory part of prime95.
