Greetings from Czech Republic! We also miss the bin file

Well, I guess it's fixed! just tried again and no problems this time.

today is December 12th and I got the .bin file is missing message today. Has AVG fixed this problem for anyone?

Seems that the "missing file" is a known problem.
But does it take such a long time for the AVG technicians to repair it?
or am I experiencing another problem?
I tried all of the support menus of the AVG site and nothing helps!
You guys are my last hope

It is now Feb.2nd 2009 and am still having this problem!!! How do I fix it? help

After troubleshooting a screwy problem with AVG and Thunderbird where AVG takes 100% of CPU, I decided to do what was recommended and do a custom installation of AVG and specify that I was not using Outlook and to not install the Outlook Plugin but rather use the Personal email checking system.

During the upgrade process, AVG has again come up with the .bin missing problem.

I'll be checking out Avast next...

The recent problems with AVG misidentifying parts of ZoneAlarm as a virus (which damaged the firewall and knocked millions of users offline), the periods of time that the .bin problem exists (at least 4 different periods of time in the last year), and the incompatibility with Thunderbird email program have cost me too much time in supporting this program for clients.

It was a good run from the earlier versions up to v7, but 7.5 and now v8 have been nothing but headaches.

Update now, it is fixed.

Just further information for other troubled users.

I had problems with the AVG not connecting to the update server.

I changed the Update Proxy in Advanced Settings to "Try connection using proxy and if it fails contact directly." Using fFirefox, I got the "a .bin file missing" error for the first time.

After trying various solutions posted here, none of which worked, I finally changed the proxy to Autodetect. It updated right away.

Sorry if this is repetitive. I did not read all 25 pages before finding my solution.

I'm receiving the same error since last week. I download the manual updates and they work fine, but everytime I try to do it from network directly it still reflects the same message.

Is there any permanent solution?

then you can to update the avg.

Deleting update files doesn't work. I did it and the error appeared again.

It seems to be a temporary error of the files on the server, I downloaded manually the files to update (lots of Megabytes) and after a week of manual updates, it seems that the repository was fixed by AVG.
