I have the same problem, but that link doesn't work anymore? Not sure how to get around it. I was actually adding AVG for the first time when this happened. Can I install an older version perhaps? Its now 9:55am in Australia.

16th August AVG Free 8.0 - Virus Database 1616 update problem ("missing BIN file")

There has been a minor problem with updating Virus Database 1616 for AVG Free 8.0

AVG is now just working fine (until next update!) ;-)

I have a temporary fix. Go on the Free AVG site, download the definitions update files the from the main AVG interface,Tools, Update from directory ..., choose the directory you downloaded the def files and you will be up to date. The drawback is that you have to look and seek for the def files.

I Guess that AVG will publish a fix but this will keep you protected in the meantime.

Haha I got the same message too.

I don't see a "tools" icon anywhere in my AVG user interface so I cannot do the manual update. Any ideas?
