hello froom Bulgaria. I had the same problem and thought the problem is mine:) then i downloaded the programme again, but it happened the same... Now i am relaxed that it is not my fault

Thanks for all your help guys, I too worried when I found AVG screwed up - saving files to a folder on my desktop and updating via directory worked a treat.

I have the answer! I got this from another board with the same issues....and it works! You don't need to uninstall and reinstall - that won't work. Here's what you do:

1) go to http://www.grisoft.com/ww.download-updat...
2) make a directory (new folder) on your desktop called AVG
3) from the website I listed, download AVI: 270.6.4
4) from the website I listed, download IAVI: / 1616
5) when you open each of these files, save the download to the directory (new folder on desktop) you made called AVG
6) launch AVG (click on your AVG icon)
7) select tools -> update from directory
8) select the directory (new folder file from desktop) called AVG where you put the downloads
9) As soon as you click that folder, your updates will start and will be complete

Okay, perhaps this will work for everyone, combining the solution of Dubhy63 and the links I found:

1 - Download the following links and save this in a map:

http://www.grisoft.cz/softw/80/update/x8all53ee.bin
http://www.grisoft.cz/softw/80/update/u7avi135781.bin

2 - Cancel the update and instead click on Tools > Update from Directory and go to the map where you saved the updates.Install these and AVG should be working properly again.

This is from the AVG website.

It seems like a lot users of the the free version of AVG antivirus is having problems reciving the latest update, and is getting the message "A .bin file is missing"

If you are in this situation, there is a simple solution to the problem, just follow the steps below.

1 - Start up AVG, click Update Now.

2 - The updates is shown in a Popup, click on the "more information link" and the full list of updates will be shown.

3 - Save all updates in a folder on your computer except the last one - u7iavi1616oo.bin because this is causing the problem.

4 - Download u7iavi1616oo.bin from http://akamai.avg.com/update/u7iavi1616oo.bin instead and save it in the folder you created above.

5 - Cancel the update and instead click on Tools > Update from Directory and go to the file where you saved the updates. Install these and AVG should be working properly again.
