The Wolf Among Us' first episode was launched to much fanfare and extremely well-received. It had been months since the The Walking Dead's first season had ended and fans were pining for a similar experience. Little did they know that it would be months yet before word of the game's second episode would come about. Today the silence has ended, as Telltale's confirmed the Episode 2 will launch the first week of February... hopefully.
After a thread on Reddit's "Games" subreddit started a conversation about Telltale's ability to create three series, The Wolf Among Us, The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones, at the same time without a drop in quality, Telltale's President Kevin Bruner dropped in. He noticeably never apologizes for the chapter's delay, but admits the launch was postponed due to various circumstances. He says they're unlikely to happen again:
"We are very concerned about the long delay for this episode, but this is one of those occasions where several things conspired against us (not to mention the additional delays due to the holidays). I won't dive into the details, but this has been an unusual and specific set of circumstances and we do not anticipate it happening again as we go forward with the rest of the season."
Ultimately I don't think Kevin's response sated any gamer's worries. While having a release date for The Wolf Among Us Ep. 2 is nice, it will still have been almost four months between Ep 1. and Ep. 2 as long as Telltale does meet the early Feb. goal. What then? Do we see gaps between releases for all of Telltale's games? Gah! What a mess.
Despite the drama, it's exciting to finally hear about The Wolf Among Us' story continuing. Bring on Bigby!
