Update: Just received an update from one of Divekick's creator's, Dave Lang. Divekick, now being greenlit, will be launching PC at the game price and on the same release date as the PS3 and PS Vita versions. That's right, pick up Divekick on PC on August 20 for $9.99. Prepare yourself!
Happy to announce that @DivekickGame will launch on Steam on 8/20 at a price of $9.99 USD Blammo— Dave Language (@JosephJBroni) July 25, 2013
Wow, yeah, so Iron Galaxy just did their weekly Divekick livestream from the EVO Championship Series and went ahead and announced their release date and price. Starting August 20, Divekick will be available on PlayStation 3 for only $9.99. $9.99! Less than $10 for one of the most fun, exciting, genre-bending fighting games ever released.
If you're unfamiliar, Divekick in unique in that it only takes two buttons to play. One lets you jump and one lets you kick, though it's insanely complex for a two-button fighter; two buttons is just the premise they started with. Somehow Divekick becomes so much more though, either through its ridiculous character designs and movesets or respect and referential humor towards the fighting game community.
What I'm saying is if you like fighting games, if you think you might like fighting games, if you don't absolutely hate the idea of fighting games, Divekick is for you. For only $9.99 there's really no excuse to pass this game up. It's just... mind boggling that the game will be priced so low. Pick it up for PlayStation 3 or PS Vita starting August 20, and yeah, it has crossplay. The plan is to bring it to PC too, but it really depends on the reception on PlayStation platforms.
Oh! And tune in tomorrow for the EVO Divekick tournament finals via the EVO livestream. It's going to be beyond epic. Iron Galaxy will also be streaming the whole tournament, group stage and all via their own stream.
