Whoa. Deep Silver and Volition have announced Saints Row IV for release on current gen consoles and PC to be released on August 20 in North America, August 23 everywhere else. Dubbed the "cinematic episode of the saga that changed all the rules" Saints Row IV picks up the story where Saints Row: The Third left off. The boss of the Third Street Saints is now the President of the United States of America... and then the aliens show up. Damn, it's good to have you back Saints Row.
The invading aliens take the Saints prisoner and put them into a simulation of their Steelport home town. Of course, once there everything goes all Matrix and the Saints pick up insane super powers and that's only the beginning. Fight to free humanity and wrestle control back from the "alien granddaddy" Zinyak's mental grasp. Also, probably lots of genitals and general perversion. I probably should have mentioned that up front, since it's rather a big deal.
Volition maybe under new owners, but it's clear Deep Silver is giving the developers free rein to be exactly who they want to be. Think about it this way -- if Saints Row IV wasn't outstanding, would Deep Silver/Koch Media have bought them? We've got some next level brilliance here that will hopefully define a generation.
