Bungie has just officially released a video of the Destiny gameplay demo they showed during the Sony E3 press conference, complete with the over-rehearsed voice over and everything. It shouldn't be the voice over you pay attention to though, it should be the graphics, the sound quality and primarily the gameplay. I think it's pretty accurate to say Destiny is like Halo meets Star Wars in style. Damn, that's a lot of style.
The demo begins in Old Russia, just outside of a giant, abandoned wall. What was the wall originally built for? Just one of the dozens of unanswered questions that Destiny teases throughout the demo. The player meets up with a friend who drops in at what must be the click of a button and they plow through the wall, taking out a boss and acquiring loot in the process.
On the other side of the wall a public event begins, where the player and his friends dynamically join a larger group to take on a bigger group of enemies and an even more threatening boss. There's never any pauses, no loading screens, it's all dynamically introduced and so fun to watch. Halo fans especially should feel right at home with the gameplay.
Destiny may not be scheduled for released until 2014, coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PS3 and Xbox 360, but we can fill in the time between with our own imaginations.
