Halo creators Bungie have set us up with some high hopes for their upcoming sci-fi shooter, Destiny. Today, a debut gameplay trailer appeared at E3, during Sony's press conference, and safe to say, we're pretty dang excited.
While the video didn't have any straight gameplay, it contains plenty of in-game footage and some gameplay snippets, specifically of the Warlock. Check that guy out as he fires blasts of energy from his hand. Fear him. We also get a decent sense of the game's MMO-esque scale, encompassing co-op and competitive play in an open world.
In addition to Earth, Destiny will take players to other planets as well, such as Venus and its lush jungles, and Mars and its red dunes. Hard to imagine there could be any such lifeforms up there, right? Well, apparently there is -- in Bungie's world, anyway.
Also showcased in the trailer are several races that appear in Destiny. Most of them appear to be hostile, but right now, we can't say for certain who's a friend and who's a foe. Humanity has, for the most part, retreated from these hostile forces and holed up within the last standing city on Earth. Yet the time to fight back and retake what they've last draws ever nearer.
Destiny is available for pre-order off the official site.
