I AM FUMING! I am sick of such ignorant pigs being so bloody ungrateful to supports!!! I just helped a draven completely carry a game by ourselves. Then our voli and fizz decide to be assholes and start saying how janna so bad etc. THE VOLI WENT IN 1v3 AND ASKED "WHY NO HELP JANNA?" I laid down my tornado, slowed one, and shielded him, and I used my shurelias up for him and that's the thanks I get. I went 0/0/21 (Personal record, don't mock 0 kills ) and I had to hold a 1v2 lane for a while so my team could push mid/top, so I ended up with 106 CS (Draven was well above 300 by the end of the game) and I practically caused our team to win. I also ruined an ashe to the point she was afraid to move anywhere BUT away from me. But I'm still fuming at how people treat people like me who main supports, and are actually pretty darn good at them. Then me and draven baroned together and my team raged again when they tried 3v5 ing the enemy and wondered why 2 died ...me and draven cleared up and won, but OH MY GOD people need to die in a hole.

IMO best passive in game, very elegant champ that feels good to play. I'd like them to revert the AP ratio nerf though, that really sucks.

I think my Janna win rate is around 70% in 30-40 games@1800, she's so strong and one of the best carrydefender supports in the game, probably second only to Alistar.

My win rate with Janna is 60%, and her tornado fully charged early game shreds off a nice bar of the enemies health. Also, she compliments just about every ad carry, especially those that trade well in general (Draven, Ezreal etc).

I'm bumping this thread.

Janna is officially my favourite champ to play, and most likely my best support champion. The more I play Janna, the less I see any reason to play any other support. She does everything except exceptional lane sustain.

I must admit that Janna is very hard to play though, her timing on everything and decisions to use her W are very hard sometimes, especially placing her ultimate. Oh and while we're on the topic of Monsoon, I believe it is one of the best ultimates in the game. A well placed one saves your entire team, steals baron, scores an ace, protects a turret, separates the carry from his team, destroys positioning, ruins other ults such as Nunu, Fiddlesticks, etc. Monsoon is one of the most versatile spells in the game, and is the most important reason to play Janna.

The one thing I love about Janna is that even though you are defined as being a "CC support," Janna can do, well, everything. She's so versatile that she can protect your carry and team members the best out of any support. She has the best disengage in the game, and once you pick up Shurelya's, it becomes absurd. She can play aggressively in lane by utilizing her excellent CC to put pressure on the lane, or passively by using her Shield to allow your ADC to poke more and her howling gale stops ganks and potential deaths, and if all that isn't enough, Monsoon is. An aware Janna is very aware of incoming ganks, and stops them without problem. Her mobility also helps her ward and effectively escape with her team.

I can't say enough about how incredible Janna is. The more I play her, the less reason I see to play any other support. Whenever I play with friends now, they almost automatically ask for Janna now because of how safe she keeps everyone, and seeing how I can protect people.

What is everyone else's take on playing as Janna or against her? I want to improve with her more, and further amplify my abilities in the role.

Janna is an ok support. What I mean by that is she's a fairly easy support to counter. And yes, supports have counters, although they aren't as drastic as some of the other lanes (Top and mid specifically.) She has no sustain for herself or adc outside of the shield, which is decent, but won't prevent all damage, and her ult, and if you are using it for it's heal you are wasting it 90% of the time.

Sona - Better harass with Q and her passive, healing sustain, steroid with Qs aura
Lulu - Shield which also increases your adc's damage because of Pix, morph, slow, knock up and heal with ult
Taric - Currently he's the top support pick. His stun, armor reduction and ult for increase AD/AP make the burst damage unbelievable and will eat through Janna's shield. Corki/Taric is amazing if you have yet to try it I recommend doing so.
Karma - Better harass, shield and a heal.

This says Lux is a counter to Janna, but I just don't see it personally. Nor is Lux played often enough as a support to actually be of any real worry. Possibly Lux's harass and her shield being technically twice as strong (If you hit it both times.)

However, Janna/adc (Specifically Draven) combo would probably win bigger trades as to where the rest would rely on small trades or harass to force Janna/adc out of lane. The key to winning lane against a Janna is to force fights when her shield is off cooldown or have more sustain than her.

Protip: It's actually smart to just take Ult at 6 and then never level it up again till it's needed (Ie: After everything else is maxed) since it's greatest use is the push back effect, and leveling it up increases only the heal, and mana cost, making it much less effective.

Janna is my favorite support, and paired with a Draven (Personal favorite pairing with Janna) can overcome even those that counter her, granted you know what you are doing. However, because of Taric's recent popularity, I find myself playing less and less Janna. I am also not seeing her played as much. Sona seems to have regained popularity and is now the go to support. Probably because she's hard to actually mess up with, so even if you never play support, Sona is a good choice.

This is why I hate Sona and will never understand why people think she's amazing.

Sona's early game harass is the best out of any support.

That's it. That's truly it.

Her sustain sucks, no CC without her ult, no reliable protection of her carry without expending valuable spells ie. Ult, exhaust etc. Teamfight utility is gone after R, lategame auras are basically more spammable but not all that different from supports like Taric, who does a better job overall as a support anyway. Oh, and jungler ganks when you are too far into the lane is a free kill, maybe even double, for the jungle when Sona is your support. You have 9 armour at level 1. Nine.


Sona is like for people that can't play support. You just mash keys mindlessly, requires almost no teamwork and is basically a worse multi-purpose support than Taric, worse sustain than Soraka...and everyone else with a heal. Her CC is nowhere near Alistar/Janna.

Now, I don't play at high level, but I honestly do not see a reason for me to even approach Sona when I can play supports like Janna/Lulu/Taric etc.

Anyway. Played Janna again when I was on a losing streak. 1/0/11 surrender at 20 or so. My ult placing was good and once team fights were breaking out I was able to disengage my team when necessary and net some kills on the chase. Got our team an ace by flashing over a wall in the jungle and Monsooning the enemy wounded team into my team, splitting them up .and using Shurelya's to catch the runners afterward.

Also, I'd like to hear the choice of boots people have on Janna? Most people recommend Ionian Boots about 90% of the time, but I've been using Boot of Mobility for awhile now and find the 470 ish movement to be incredible at chasing and securing ganks, as well as protecting my carry and placing myself quicker for Howling Gale and more importantly, Monsoon. It also allows me to kite around turret very well with Howling gale, Eye of the Storm and Zephyr.

captain boo boots of mobility are really a waste on her if you ask me. My build on her usually would leave her gasping for some CDR, especially since I kicked Soul Shroud out (R.I.P). The only two support champions I'd recommend Mobility Boots on is Lulu (I still CDR her) and Alistar (who I don't use anyway). Janna is one of those weird supports that is highly balanced in both offensive and defensive purposes. As an ad carry, I'd much rather have a janna support than sona, purely because janna can save your ass pre-6 and often, whereas sona really can't save you unless you have superb map coverage (I do as support, but many others D:...) You literally can't save me from more than one cc as sona without blowing your ult.
