Soraka, the Starchild, is a champion which was released February 21^st, 2009.

Consecration	Increases surrounding allies' magic resistance by 16. Radius: 1,000
Starcall	(Active): Soraka summons a shower of stars to fall from the sky, striking all nearby enemy units for magic damage and reducing their magic resistance for 8 seconds. This effect stacks up to 10 times.	Cost: 20 / 30 / 40 / 50 / 60 mana Radius of AoE: 530 Cooldown: 2.5 seconds Magic Damage: 60 / 85 / 110 / 135 / 160 (+0.4 per ability power) Magic Resist Reduction: 8 / 9 / 10 / 11 / 12 per stack

You all know it. Possibly the most overused support in the game, one of the easiest supports to play and has a global heal that pretty much says to Karthus: "in your face". I tried her as an ap carry today in a custom game with my irl level 30 friend and a newb friend to the game, who we were trying to teach. It's so much fun, but boy is it almost completely unviable for any kind of competitive play. Her E damage was ridiculous, but her Q has quite a short AoE radius, making it difficult to kill. I got 14/0/13 (bots, but still pretty good). And I was solo bot lane as my friends decided to duo mid. It was interesting to say the least.

Discuss the most overused support: Soraka.

W + E every 10 seconds. Q occasionally while your lane partner is gone. R when you see Karthus ult/top lane being an idiot. Get caught/focused in a teamfight? Good thing you've got no CC! Meh, she's okay. Just so boring to play and doesn't bring much to the team post-lane.

The thing about Soraka is that it's very easy for her to get her carry partner fed.
She has that heal + armor + passive MR buff that makes it just about impossible for opponents to poke her partner down, and the sustain she provides allows her partner to stay in lane long enough to farm for the big items right away.

She's also one of the few supports that doesn't actually lose anything of she goes 0 cs. She is t terribly item dependent, and the items she does get make her even more supporty.

Her problem is that she has absolutely no presence late game.
She can silence an enemy, heal a teammate, then use her ult.
She can't do any damage, and she's super squishy. If she goes anywhere on the map without a partner, the odds are high that she'll be attacked and killed.

Her lategame issues aren't that big of a deal since her early-mid game is so good. Her silence is pretty long and her armor buff, along with her heals and passive, make her team really tanky even late game. She's definitely boring though, but it's not that her kit promotes passive, rather, her kit can't promote aggressive play whatsoever compared to other supports. She has no way to make things happen, so she ends up being passive because of it.

You guys should try her ap. It's harder than most aps, but it is actually fun. I got WotA, Deathcap, Rylai's, RoA, Cooldown Shoes and Morello's. Not exactly carry worthy, but it was certainly fun. Just don't do it in ranked "-_-. There's enough derpy people there xD.

I main Soraka (72% win rate) and the thing I hate most about her is the stupid teammates that expect everything out of you. "Heal me Soraka god damn." Do you not realize that the W cooldown is like 20 seconds? And top lane expects me to ult every single time they start getting in trouble. If I don't think you can make it out of the fight, I am not wasting my ult when I can use it for better reasons.

Anyways, she is pretty easy to use.

Lulz, one time, a guy was so raging over it. "Why do you not have cooldown shoes?" I replied with, "Because I'm buying GP/10, your wards and I'm keeping your ass from getting frozen over by ashe's arrows whilst keeping you able to use spells on her. Any complaints?" The person then shut up, realising that he would've lost his lane by now if it wasn't for me.

That too. Saying that, I build Heart of Gold before Shureylia's by both principle, and because I get yelled at for not having another GP item at the same time as an aura. People are so demanding of supports these days. They don't realise that we don't have enough gold for: a) cooldown boots, b) aura items, c) GP/10 items and d) several wards all in the same trip: because we are preserving that 200 cs for them.

Oh, and when they go back, "Omg soraka, why are you taking my cs?" "Because it isn't yours if you aren't here, it isn't like you can actually get this cs, and may I remind you that 3-4 cs is one extra ward?" I've got it all worked out.

Btw, I only have a 50% win ratio with soraka because of some purely derpy teams....

And I notice that you haven't changed your avatar in a good couple of years eh?

I seem to be pretty lucky with Soraka. Once I win a couple games with her, I switch to other supports to preserve that W/L ratio. My KDA's are basically the same throughout all the supports, but the percentages are much lower.

How do you know I haven't changed it? Just remembered me from a long time ago? I took like a year hiatus.

Hmm nice idea with the switch out of characters, wish I'd done that. My most used character is currently soraka, but I am going to main akali as much as possible from now on, as I'm about 10x better as her than I am as most other characters. I love being able to press a few buttons and deal more than half their health

Was it in the Soul Silver forums? That's basically where I was for the most part, other than short appearances in side forums. I've been foruming for like 4 years now so most people are just one big jumble.

They made a poll in which people voted on how they wanted the new Soraka to look and people said for Human-Like which I am excited for. Soraka is so out-dated and she has no skins
