Anyone else had a chance to give this puppy a whirl?

I use Long Barrel, Laser Sight and Quickdraw.

The thing's got good range, donmaster. Definitely a good pay off for being accurate with a shotgun. If you're accurate, you're rewarded with great range for a shotgun, if you're not, you're stuck with the room-clearing S12.

Long Barrel definitely makes a difference in extending the KSG's 1HK range though, I guess give it another go.


I don't know how to explain its range man, but the KSG felt incredibly sluggish for me until I slapped Quickdraw on it. I was losing gunfights left, right and centre because I couldn't get my sights up fast enough to contend with SMG's or AR's at mid-close range.


I don't trust the hip-fire unless the barrel is touching the guys chest.


You've just got to play it a lot more conservatively than a normal shotgun class. With the R870's power and fast pump, I'll gladly rush into a room with 3 guys in it and 80% of the time I'll come out of it with a triple kill. Can't do that with the KSG, double's are difficult let alone triples (if they're all in the same room as you), because you have to ADS to make the KSG hit anything.

It's still shotgun rushing, just not manic shotgun rushing.

I think it's because shotguns are hard to balance from a game standpoint. I mean IRL a shotgun can kill up to about 40 yards (120 feet) though how do you translate that to a game? In a game if a hip firing weapon could one shot you from across the map there would be outrage, we saw it in MW2 with the Akimbo Model 1887's which had a range of about 20ft in game and that was still a good 100ft short of it's IRL range. It's a hard thing to balance as if you make it too short range it's ineffective but too long range it becomes OP, so it doesn't surprise me that they have issues balancing shotguns.

They've done well in Black Ops 2.

R870 = if you're semi-accurate you'll monster people at a decent range.

S12 = semi-auto, so it's good for people who aren't that accurate, it's spammable.

M1216 = room clearing, that's it. Anyone outside the same room as you and you're toast.

KSG = don't bother unless you're accurate, if you are, you'll monster people at a very good range.



We won't see much of the KSG, it's difficult to use. I've seen 2 people use it other than me, and neither of them had any sort of success. I even felt sorry for the second guy and gave him some tips.

I never knew guns were humans.

I used it once and sucked with it. I found I was aiming right at the person but shots didn't register at all.

This is exactly the problem I have with the KSG. Notice in the video how direct shots at individuals do not register, whereas blatant missed shots connect for a one-hit-kill.
