OUYA, the "little" Kickstarter console hardware project that could, has this week received even more legitimate industry support from none other than JRPG publisher Square Enix, who confirms that its Final Fantasy III remake will be heading to the new platform as a launch title next year.
The OUYA release of FFIII will be the latest port of the 2006 DS remake... of the original 1990 NES title. To be sure, the updated title has since been ported to the Apple iOS and Android mobile platforms, and given that the Ouya platform is based around Android, the stage for FFIII on OUYA was in many ways set. Hey, you don't see Square Enix spreading the Final Fantasy VII love like this at the moment.
The OUYA team is promising "glorious graphic detail" for FFIII on their hardware and what's more, a free demo download of the title will be made available on Day One of the hardware launch in 2013.
