Just as was originally announced when Disney Infinity was first announced, one of the first playsets for the game will be Monsters University. No coincidence, what with the impending release of the movie later this year. A good batch of screenshots for the Disney Infinity play set have just been released, giving us a closer look at what the game and its toy accessories will be.
Perhaps most interesting is the Disney Infinity portal, which has three readable areas for accessories. Two will be for playable characters, which in the header image are Mike and Sully, and the third is reserved for the "play set", which in this case is Monsters University. In this way, players can switch out play sets in the same way they switch out characters, allowing for new settings and tools to play with at any given moment.
The rest of the images show the two different ways to play in Disney Infinity. First, there's the current play set being used, Monsters University, which creates a playground specifically for Monsters University characters. This play set will be like its own game with its own mechanics. Then there's the toy box, where characters from different play sets can intermingle and play with tools taken from the various play sets.
Basically, the toy box is the hub world for all the various play set worlds that Disney will sell as separate products. Disney Infinity is exciting in concept and fun to think about after seeing these screenshots, but it would be great to get a walkthrough of the game in motion, wouldn't it?
