The X Factor 2009

Time to find a great singer to win £1million record deal. And laugh at people who beg the judges to be let through even though they've clearly said no. (I can never understand that - what do they think will happen? Judges: "No." Contestant: "Please. PLEASE, I'M BEGGING YOU!!" Judges: "Oh go on then." Unlikely.)

This Saturday auditions start - I thought it was time for a thread. Well. Auditions are finshed and we're watching stuff that happened months ago, but oh well. Auditions start for us! =D

7PM
ITV1
I'll be watching. =)

This year the auditions will be in front of a live audience. Opinions?

I hate this show but the auditions have been funny sometimes.

re: The X Factor 2009

Auditions are always funny, especially with the people who just can't sing.

Judge: "Do you think you can win the show?"
Contestant: "Definitely!"

Then they start singing XD

I like the good auditions too though. It's nice to see some people have talent.

The is the best part of the show, where all of these deluded idiots come out. I just don't understand how some of them can think they're good, they must ACTUALLY be deaf.

I'm guessing it's just other people telling them they're good, friends and family probably wouldn't want to hurt their feelings.

But still. XD

re: The X Factor 2009

I'm still skeptical about the live audience. I just hope it doesn't turn into a clone of Britains Got Talent where the audience start chanting, "off, off, off!" before they even have a chance to start.

I liked the original format because it was more personal and you get better reactions from the judges. But hey, the new format might be just as good. I'll have to wait and see.

re: The X Factor 2009

I think it was alright the way it was, I prefer auditions with just judges, because like Isilwen said, better reactions from the them.

Then again, it might make it even more funny when the bad people make fools of themselves. You never know. Yelling at the audience when they're booed or laughed at sounds good XD

It's going to be shit with the live audience.

We won't be able to see the judges struggling not to cry with laughter because the audience will join in and it'll be rubbish.

Even if they have been told they are good, they should still be able to hear that they aren't.

There's already controversy about some great singer who has Asperger's and whether he'll be able to cope. Either way I'm looking forward to the new series, most definitely. =)

I agree... Will be a bit like X Factor meats Britains Got Talent.

However, i like watching the auditions.

I always thought having the auditions in front of an audience would be a really bad idea, but we'll have to wait and see...I can very much see this happening;

My friend was in one of the audiences, and he said it's blatantly obvious that the judges and contestants are reading scripts

re: The X Factor 2009

It's going to be shit. Seriously.

The old format was so much better. Performing first to just the judges, then performing to the judges and the other performers, then just to the judges again, and finally to a live audience. That was fine, there was no need to change it.

Not looking forward to it all, the only positive that can be taken is that this format weeds out all the acts that get too nervous when it comes to performing to a large audience. But I can't recall any such problems happening on previous shows.

It's going to be too much like Britain's Got Talent to be honest.

re: The X Factor 2009

To me the live audience in the auditions was one of the big things that seperated Britain's Got Talent and the X Factor. I liked it more with no audience. I don't no why... I just did.

I'm not going to say it'll be terrible, though - we haven't seen it so we don't know yet.

re: The X Factor 2009

I'm looking forward to it tonight, however I agree the new format will be pretty bad.

BTW, did anyone read the story about the woman who threatened to kill herself after she got turned down?
