I saw I am Legend a couple of nights ago. It was good and had a lot of potential but shoud have been more in-depth.
It was nothing like the book!
Totally agree, especially in the sense that the book was amazing, and the film wasn't as good as I'd hoped. It was a good year for films really with Superbad and Transformers being my favourites probably. I also posted this in my Smackdown crib: Films Guillotine wants to see badly this year: Indiana Jones - The poster for it came to our cinema earlier and it looks great, I loved the originals muchly so I have high hopes for such a frowned upon project. Incredible Hulk - The last Hulk film? Absolute bollocks. But hey it's a good story so why not give perhaps the best actor of the moment the lead role huh. Sin City 2 - The previous one was a classic but they may aswell finish what they started, they need to do the rest! The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor - Some reason, I really liked the Mummy films, so even though Rachel Weisz didn't sign up it should still be good. Hellboy 2 - I need to see the first one again but it was still pretty good, equal to the comic. The trailer was pretty average though. Dark Knight - Film of the year candidate Cloverfield - What an ace trailer it was, hopefully it lives to the hype. Drillbit Taylor - I don't think Owen Wilson is much of a laugh but Judd Apatow in the directors chair? A cameo from Chuck Liddell? Sounds good to me. Pride and Glory - OOOOh Edward Norton I would totally do him. Harold and Kumar 2 - lol what a film the original was. The Forbidden Kingdom - Haven't heard much about this but with Jet Li and Jackie Chan I expect a pretty epic film. Wall-E - yeah man robots Death Race - Hoooooo a remake of a classic - it wont be as good but still, maybe it will increase the audience of the original. Punisher: War Zone - big punisher fan, so I'll probably enjoy it regardless of how good it may or may not be. Iron Man - almost forgot this one.. Whiteout - Kate Beckinsale. ENOUGH SAID! Speed Racer - Wasn't too impressed with the trailer, but The Wachowski brothers don't generally dissapoint me and my hats off to them for taking on this classic anime Jumper - Looks like a Phillip K Dick adaptation in the sense that it's a hit and miss sci-fi, it could be really good or really bad. There's more but that's all I can think of at the moment. Oh yeah, and Sweeney Todd.

Well I watched The Departed last night and thought it was amazing. Great plot and a fantastic ending. Gets added to my list of top films: Shawshank; Green Mile; The Pursuit of Happyness; Clerks; Clerks 2 and The Departed.
Got Memento, Knocked Up, Inside Man, 3:10 to Yuma and Hostel to watch in the next week or so.
I'm not sure if Departed was as good as Infernal Affairs myself, but if it wasn't it would still be pretty equal. Inside Man is very underrated aswell but as far as Spike Lee films go - The 25th Hour remains his best. And Clowney has some good taste aswell - haven't seen Four Rooms though.

I've just finished The Painted Viel as my daily film, was really different for what basically is a love story. Only one film left from the ones I got for christmas - but that's Blade Runner.

Yeah, that film's walking tall, infact they did a sequel to that recently with Kevin Sorbo (Hercules) but I think that was uh... direct to DVD if you catch my drift... I've been tempted to get The Alien/Predator boxset as I've seen it in a lot of places as I don't even know which ones I've actually seen, my copy of Alien vs. Predator is signed by one of the actors though. Watching Blade Runner atm.

lol yeah but surely your expectations for it weren't high? With that said I thought it was pretty average. I really liked Dane Cook's other film 'Employee of the Month' though and I haven't a clue why.

Hancock looked pretty lame to me... As for Knocked Up, yeah great film. I saw Juno today (which comes out in the UK next month *cough*) which was kind of like a more toned down 'sweeter' version which was really enjoyable. It's in the top 250 on imdb aswell. Definatley check that one out, especially if you enjoyed films like Ghost World, or indeed Knocked Up.

The Cottage (haven't heard of it), !!! Guilmero Del Toro? Pans Labrynth? Hellboy? Uh... Blade 2? I think he's doing The Hobbit aswell. I can't wait to see it. May is where all the good films seem to be at though.

lol, my favourite films are ones that have a complex plot, don't like the term mind*bleep* much though, but many of the best films have been ones with amazing twists and such (e.g. Se7en, The Usual Suspects, Fight Club). But assuming you mean epic as in like, huge battles, amazing backdrops and colour, I'd say perhaps something like Hero.

^ That's the mentality you should have. I saw it a while before it came out seeing as though I work at a cinema. Thought it was alright, but wasn't really 'justified'. Should be left as a trilogy...
Then again, I loved Speed Racer and most people hated that.
