Shock relegation:

Under Shearer, the club were relegated to the Football League Championship at the end of the 2008–09 season, the first time the club had left the Premier League after joining it in 1993.
Following their relegation, the club was put up for sale in June 2009, with an asking price of £100 million.Chris Hughton was given the manager job on a caretaker basis before taking over full-time on 27 October 2009.On the same day, Ashley announced that the club was no longer for sale.

Hughton led Newcastle to win the 2009–10 Football League Championship, securing automatic promotion on 5 April 2010 with five games remaining, and securing the title on 19 April 2010; Newcastle were promoted back to the Premier League after just one season away. Under Hughton, Newcastle enjoyed a strong start to the 2010–11 season, recording famous wins against Aston Villa, Arsenal and archrivals Sunderland. Despite his high popularity among fans following these memorable wins, Hughton was sacked on 6 December 2010, following a 3–1 defeat to West Bromwich Albion. The club's board stated that they felt "an individual with more managerial experience was needed to take the club forward."Three days later, Alan Pardew was appointed as manager with a five and a half-year contract. Further controversy was caused on 31 January 2011, when striker Andy Carroll was sold to Liverpool for a club record of £35 million. Despite this turbulence, Newcastle were able to finish twelfth at the end of the season, with one particular highlight being a 4-4 home draw against Arsenal which saw Newcastle come back from four goals down to claim a point.

Back in Europe

The start of the 2011-12 season saw an overhaul in the first team, with the sale of influential first team players Kevin Nolan, Joey Barton and Jose Enrique during the summer and the elevation of Tim Krul as first choice keeper and centre back Fabricio Coloccini as captain. Signings such as Yohan Cabaye, Italian international Davide Santon and Senegalese striker Demba Ba in cut-price deals saw Newcastle adopt a new transfer policy, one which would be met with success in the season. Newcastle went on to enjoy one of their strongest openings to a season, playing 11 consecutive games unbeaten before losing to Manchester City.
A string of games without a win saw Newcastle drop from 3rd to 7th in the League table, however a famous win over Manchester United and the capture of Senegal striker Papiss Cisse in the January transfer window sparked a resurgence from the Magpies. Cisse, along with the on-form Hatem Ben Arfa, inspired Newcastle to a strong second half of the season, going on a 6-game winning run and recording memorable victories against Liverpool and Chelsea to put the Magpies in contention for European football. Newcastle eventually secured a place in the 2012-13 Europa League with a 2-0 win over Chelsea, at Stamford Bridge, not only a historic match in NUFC history, but one of the most amazing goals in Newcastle and Premier League history was scored by Pappis Demba Cisse (he scored both goals in the win)guaranteeing participation in European League competition for the first time since 2004. A disappointing finish to the season, with a shocking 4-0 loss at Wigan Athletic and later with a 3-1 loss away at Everton on the final day, ultimately ended lingering hopes of Champions League football, but Newcastle still managed to finish in 5th place, their highest League position since the Bobby Robson days.

I recommend that when you start as Newcastle you offer Demba Ba a new contract as soon as possible otherwise with his release clause you'll lose him for only £7M! He will ask for fairly high wages around the 70/75k mark.

Ben arfa has been solid for me although cisse and ba aren't really playing too well.

The facepack I am using is the megapack 5.0 from sortioutsi and I also got the new metalic logo pack off there aswell.

Quite enjoying my season as Newcastle so far. Just beat S'land 2-1 and O'Neill got sacked as a result of it!
Been playing a 4-3-1-2 system with three centre mids and Ben Arfa in the hole.
Hoping to qualify for the Europa League, on course for that atm!

Not 100% relevant, but I always keep my eye on Newcastle on FM since I grew up there. The AI for Newcastle is *bleep*ing terrible. In the first 2 seasons (literally just played my last game) they have lost: Ben Arfa (£14mil), Cabaye (£17.5mil), Cisse (£31mil), Santon (£11mil), Gosling (£2.4mil), Dragovic (who they bought and was looking good £6.25mil).

Now admittedly, they've got some good money to play with there. But their reinvestment has been nothing short of horrendous.

Dragovic (£3.6mil who they went on to sell), Figueroa (£3.9mil), Anderson (£4.5mil), Jonathan Walters (£5.25mil I was skeptical but he had a decent season... So they then loaned him out to Blackburn!), Shaun Derry (Free, but wtf?), Jake Livermore (£3.4mil, mediocre at best), Magnus Wolff Eikrem (£4mil, decent but way over the odds), Nikica Jelavic (£11mil, not bad signing), Marc Tierney (£725k... Wow), Kevin Foley (£2.9mil, if you wanted to give £3mil away, donate to my Havant side!), Johan Dalin (£975k... Interesting), Essien (£5.25mil and finally a decent signing!), Jose Callejon (£7mil... For a player rotting in Arsenal's reserves who has done nout), Michail Antonio (£7.25mil, outrageous fee.)

Look at the players they've lost and then the players they've brought in for about the same money. Just *bleep*ing wow.

Any chance you could upload your treble winning tactic as I can't seem to get them winning

Just finished my first season with them finished 6th should of been 4th but had a terrible losing streak over Christmas when I went 7 games without a single point hoping to do better 2nd season anyone playing as them at the moment

Used him there in a saved game i was doing , he can be maddeningly inconsistent. I also find that with 4-3-1-2 there is a lack of width as santon and Simpson aren't great as attacking fullbacks/Wingbacks.

If you are going to play that way invest in some decent fullbacks.
