Konami's Metal Gear 25 anniversary event has delivered, Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes has been announced and a full demo was shown to attendees. The demo featured what appeared to be Solid Snake infiltrating a compound, as he is want to do, sneaking and crawling and snapping necks -- even hijacking a jeep at one point. Here's the thing though, Ground Zeroes appears to be an open world title. (!)

Earlier this month, Hideo Kojima promised that the industry would, "be shook." While the greater industry will have to wait to see the event-exclusive demo, reactions coming from the event seem very positive. If we assume Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes is the "Project Ogre" we've been hearing about, the title should be beautiful beyond anything we've previously seen. Considering the last major Metal Gear Solid title came out at the launch of the current generation of consoles, I'd certainly expect they've made some improvements.

Hopefully a digital recording of the demo will be made available soon. Until then we have a single poster image from the title which appears to be an in-game model, but consider me skeptical because the demo was said to be running on 360/PS3 (current generation) specifications. The image looks pretty damn good for a current gen model, but we all know Kojima rarely doesn't deliver. Expect more news on Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes soon.
